HOMEWORK GRADING POLICY:
While in class, we will effectively use our time to strive for mastery of topics. However, in the time allotted this may not always be the case. So most nights there will be homework assigned to assist you in your understanding. The homework that is assigned is not busy work. All homework assignments are important to gain the mastery needed to be successful in this class. All assignments should be completed neatly and on time. Homework is intended to be practice, and will be graded on effort. This grade will make up 25% of your final grade.
LATE POLICY:
All homework assignments are available through Powerschool and through my website. All paper documents will be transmitted into electronic copies and placed on my website. Since homework assigned is critical not only to the lesson at hand, but will also be is then built upon in later lessons, on time homework is crucial. Any missing homework passed in will receive 80% credit. Labs, however, cannot be made up, so it is imperative that they are done on time. If you do not pass in a lab on or before the day that it is due, it will go into the grade book as a 50.
ABSENCE:
From the WMS Student Handbook:
“Make Up of Missed Work: For each excused day missed, students will have a cumulative of two (2) days to make up the work from the missed days. A zero will be recorded for the work not made up.”
It is the student’s responsibility to make up work missed because of absence. Making up work requires the student to make an appointment with teachers to arrange a schedule to complete work. Students who do not make up work or who fall behind may be asked to make up work after school. I will be available before school, during tutorial periods, and after school to help with homework that was missed in class. When the assignment in passed in within 2 school days, the grade will go into the grade book with the appropriate grade. Any work turned in after two school days will be subject to the late homework policy.
GRADING:
Homework 25%
In Class Participation 10%
Labs 25%
Tests, Quizzes and Projects 40%
TEST RETAKES:
If you are unhappy with the grade that you have earned on a test, and feel that it does not show your best work, you may retake the test. The two tests will not be the same, and you must fix all mistakes from your previous test, and get it ok’d by the teacher. You may retake a test as many times as you would like until you feel that it shows what you know on the topic covered. All tests that are retaken can be made up for FULL credit.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:
All students are expected to follow the core values of WMS at all times. Cheating, copying, taking of others homework will not be tolerated. While working together and helping fellow students with work is encouraged, you should be producing your own work. Assignments that are deemed to be not your authentic work will receive no credit, and your parents will be notified. If you worked with a partner and your work is similar, please put both of your names on the paper so I know that you worked together.
