After earning a B.A. from St. Olaf College in Chemistry and German, I became licensed to teach Physical Science (Physics & Chemistry) and German in grades 7-12.  I taught German in Menasha, WI, and physics, chemistry, and physical science in Minneapolis, MN before moving to Winona in 1992.

I've been married to Heidi since 1993.  We have two sons.  Joseph is studying mechanical engineering at Iowa State University.  Benjamin is also studying to become an engineer at South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.  We got our golden doodle puppy in December 2014.

Outside of school I've been involved with boy scouts and Pleasant Valley Church.

Within WAPS, I was involved with staff development before getting involved with the FIRST robotic team since 2010.
