Wie viel Uhr ist es? - What time is it?
Wie spät ist es? - How late is it?
Es ist ... Uhr - It is ... o'clock. (remember...eins drops the "s" if the word "Uhr" comes after it)
Es ist halb ... . - It is ... thirty. ("halb" refers to halfway to the next hour)
nach = after
vor = before
Viertel = quarter
So...Es ist Viertel nach sechs = It is a quarter past six.
