As a facilitator, the roles and responsibilities include the following:
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers using the Collaborative Learning Cycle/Coaching model
  • Provide literacy support for new teachers in the building
  • Facilitate differentiated instruction within the classroom
  • Evaluate student learning and analyze data relative to student performance
  • Research and evaluate resources, materials, and assessments for implementing the district curricula
  • Coordinate and manage instructional materials
  • Maintain and expand the Guided Reading Library and professional development literacy library
Jen Fiegen has beed an educator for twenty two years.  She earned her Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching from Northwestern University after graduating with a BS from the University of Illinois.  After graduation she worked in Ritenour School District in St. Louis, MO as a classroom teacher (grades 4 and 5) and a Professional Development Coordinator.  In 2002 her family relocated to Wilmette and she taught at Crow Island School in third grade.  After several years in the classroom, Jen transitioned into the Literacy Facilitator role.  For the past nine years Jen Fiegen served as a part time facilitator.  Reading and writing are the heart of her work.  Jen continues to read daily, not only as an adult reader and in the role of an educator, but as a parent of three children.  She believes in meeting children where there are and supporting their independent growth.
