October 1, 2026: We are comparing traditional restoration with practical repairs for the original timber-frame barn. Raymond Friend provided a $170,000 traditional restoration quote. Melvin Yoder’s estimates for repairs using modern dimensional lumber are pending. A final scope and budget have not been selected.
The Barn Preservation page explains the current options and next steps. We are exploring preservation partnerships while retaining family ownership. No nonprofit sponsorship or tax-deductible fundraising arrangement has been established.
The historic smokehouse is the small white building with the black roof. Family and friends helped with paint and roof work.
