Anita Christian, Principal

As Principal of Watertown Elementary School I take great pride and ownership in leading learning in the 2016-2017 school year.  Being a product of the Wilson County School System, makes me proud and knowing that our district cares about every single student makes me even prouder.  I have been involved in educating young people for many years as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and now as Principal.

When you walk into our school there is a banner hanging that states, “The most important people who walk through our doors are our students.”  It is our goal for every student to feel that importance and self-worth when they come to school every day in knowing they have teachers, administration, and staff who love and care about them.

My career takes much of my time, but the children of Watertown Elementary School are worth it – they are our future.  When I am not working, I enjoy being with my husband and horses, family, and friends plus a cute blue heeler dog named “Roper.”  I am a huge country music fan, and I like to go horseback riding, antiquing, and shopping.

Dr. Peggy Druyor, Assistant Principal

It has been my privilege to be a part of the Watertown Elementary school team during the 2016-17 school year. We have wonderful, dedicated teachers and talented students! Thank you for a great first year! I have enjoyed getting to know both our staff and students.  Community based schools in which students move from elementary school through high school in a tight-knit community are wonderful for our students.  Watertown is a special place to be.

I have been an educator in Wilson County for 16 years, first teaching kindergarten, and then fourth grade, before moving into an administrative role and have enjoyed the various aspects of helping students and teachers throughout my career. I am excited about the possibilities that are becoming realities for the staff and students, as our building construction is completed during the 2017-18 school year. Our students and teachers will enjoy having our buildings connected, with a cafeteria and separate gym, better technology access, and space to include new and exciting events that will bring our entire school together at once, and will allow us to provide more activities our parents can attend and become involved in. Our school is a partnership between our children, teachers, and parents. We could not be successful without you! Thank you for your support!

I work spend a lot of time at school, working to assure that our students receive the best education possible, but when I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, hiking, riding my motorcycle, and going to the lake. I also have a mixed husky named Layla, who is a joy to take hiking or just sit on the patio and enjoy the day together. She's a bit spoiled, because she thinks she belongs in my chair, but that's a story for another time.
