Bash & Dash Informational Sheet

What is Bash & Dash?

            Bash & Dash is SCE PTO’s school wide fun run. Students collect donations in turn for running laps during the school day, October 7th. Every student participates in this fun event, regardless of donations received. The theme is the Olympics with the slogan Join Together. Unlike prior years, we are not counting laps completed. Students run a course around the parking lot in front of the gym for 20-30 minutes with only students in their grade level. Run times will be announced closer to the date. After the run, they may participate in an Olympic themed course of fun games before returning to class.

 What is our fundraising goal? Why are we raising money?

            $45,000. A large portion is budgeted for safety upgrades to playground equipment, additional mulch, barriers to contain that mulch, and an outdoor shade structure. Additionally, money is given to teachers’ accounts, family fun nights, staff appreciation events, and other PTO events throughout the year.

 When are collection days?

            Your child returns the collection envelope to their teacher, any day from September 12 – October 7. There are no collection days after the event this year due to Fall Break. Envelopes will be collected and returned with prizes in 1-2 days. Students may return the envelope as often as necessary. Prizes are cumulative and given as earned.

 What should my child wear the day of the run?

            Every student will receive a free Bash & Dash t-shirt the morning of the run. They can wear it over another shirt or will be allowed a few moments to change. Please have them wear comfortable shorts and shoes for running/walking.

 What is my responsibility as a parent/guardian?

            Please encourage your child to seek donations—family, friends, acquaintances, those local and far away. Come watch your child run/walk (and join in our special family laps) on October 7. Volunteer to help with the event. Much work goes into planning and any and all help is appreciated, both before the run and on race day. Contact Tina at scebashndash@gmail.com!

 Are there prizes?

            A list of individual prizes and overall rewards is included in the collection envelope.

 What about a raffle?

Every student is automatically entered in the raffle drawing. Additional entries are received for each $50 in donations, with no limit. The raffle drawing includes becoming Teacher of the Day (one winner per homeroom) and other fantastic prizes!

 Is there an auction too?

            Yes! We have received donations from various national and local companies to auction. Events will be posted September 12 and the auction ends September 30. Teachers are auctioning special events! Winning bidders can send in payment October 3-6 in a clearly marked envelope or pay online. Items will be sent home with your child or can be picked up during the event October 7.
