Jump Rope for Heart: The “Zoo Crew” is everywhere! So many students already earned some zoo animals because of your generous donations to the American Heart Association.  We have already raised over $7,000! During the month of February, students will hear healthy heart facts announced daily on morning announcements.

Hungry for Heroes: Youth Leadership Wilson is hosting a canned food drive for Wilson County students. Your child can meet their favorite Disney character and learn about what makes them unique heroes. Admission is one canned good per person. Don’t forget your camera!!  See flyer here: Heroes

4th Grade Multiplication Bee: Please join us on Friday, February 24, 7:30am for Stoner Creek’s First Invitational Multiplication Bee!

  • The top 5 students from each 4th grade homeroom class will compete in this event.
  • Students will have 3 seconds to answer a multiplication problem using flash cards. We will use 0-12 multiplication facts. 
  • After every student has completed an equal amount of rounds and there are 5 or less students remaining, they will solve a 2x2-digit multiplication problem using the method of their choice on paper.
  • Preliminary rounds held at our school will determine the top 3 winners to participate at Lakeview Elementary on March 9th at 6pm against other Wilson County 4th graders.
  • Start practicing at home now at refining those multiplication skills

Thank you for your patience and understanding during our car rider traffic in the mornings.  As reminder, the doors open at 6:45am.  The car lines are generally open from 6:45-6:55.  Heavy traffic begins around 7:05.  The tardy bell rings at 7:15.  If you are using the main office parking lot, we ask that you park and walk your child into the building.  Please do not drop them off at the main office door.  We want to keep all of our Bobcats safe.  Please plan your arrival to school so your child arrives to school on time.  Thank you for understanding.

Kindergarten Enrollment Survey for 2017-2018

    • Child must be 5 years old by August 15, 2017.
    • Each year we send home a survey to determine the number of children that will be entering kindergarten in August.  The information we receive from this survey will help both schools determine staffing and classrooms. This survey is vital due to the re-zoning for next school year. The survey was sent home last Friday. Please complete the survey and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher by February 10, 2017.
    • Kindergarten registration will be April 3, 4, and 5, 2017 by appointment.   Info coming soon for both Stoner Creek and Springdale Elementary.
    • Stoner Creek : the neighborhoods zoned to Stoner Creek are: any neighborhood on the same side of the street as Stoner Creek that is presently zoned Stoner Creek,  Stonegate, Laurel Valley Apartments, along with  Clearview Estates,  Fairview Knoll, and  Moreland Farms
    • Springdale Elementary: the neighborhoods zoned Springdale are: Glass Creek Apartments, Triple Crown, Pleasant Grove Road and Central Pike that are currently zoned Stoner Creek, Denver Hills, Kingsridge, East Meadows, Crown Vista, Queen’s Valley, Chandler Point, Cobblestone Landing, Kelsey Glen, Old Lebanon Dirt Road currently zoned to Stoner Creek , Eastgate Blvd, Normandy Heights, Radford Farms, and  Tanglewood Court area.

Wilson County is seeking cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and Kids’ Club workers.  If you or someone you know is interested in the mentioned employment opportunities, please share the attachments with them.

SCE is seeking volunteers to help our students during lunch times from 10:15-12:45 from now until fall break.  If you can volunteer some of your time during the mentioned hours, please call our secretary, Shelly, at 615-754-6300.  Thank you!

        Stoner Creek 2016-2017 

        Teacher of the Year

        Socrates once said, “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” I take that quote to heart every morning as I unlock my door and flip on the lights in my classroom. My passion for igniting the love of learning in students’ hearts and minds will always be evident in my classroom. Now in my 13th year, I have had the opportunity to teach many grades including Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th. I have been teaching 4th grade math for the last 6 years. I am proud to say that all of my 13 years have been at SCE.

         In addition to classroom teaching, I have been a part of organizations and groups at Stoner Creek Elementary to encourage teachers and staff; some of which include the role of Technology Coach, 2nd and 4th grade Team Leader, Leader of Common Core Trainings, mentor to new teammates, and Math Leadership Statewide Trainings. I’ve worked with students by offering after-school tutoring, and hosting a TCAP “Bootcamp” for 4th graders to build confidence, practice skills, and prepare for state testing. I also serve on the drama team at Stoner Creek.

         I am no stranger to Wilson County Schools. I proudly attended Stoner Creek Elementary, where I first decided that I wanted to be a teacher, and Mt. Juliet High School before receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Tennessee State University. I still reside in Wilson County with my husband and two children, where they attend Wilson County Schools.
