In order to help alleviate some of the congestion with our morning car line----we will begin tomorrow (Jan. 18) running 2 car lanes in the morning (just as we do in the afternoon). See below explanation:
Our morning car line will consist of (2) lines….as cars proceed through the lines, please make sure that students are unbuckled, backpacks and lunchboxes are on, and that all hugs and kisses are given. At the end of the building (5th grade wing), a teacher will hold up the STOP sign. Once all cars are stopped, a teacher will whistle and all students can begin exiting their cars and move to the sidewalk where they will proceed into the building. Once all students have exited their cars and are safely on the sidewalk, the teacher will turn the sign to GO and cars can proceed out to W. Division. Then the next set of car lines will begin.
We can get roughly 28 cars through the car line at time----we are hoping this will help with all of the congestion and help cut down on our student tardies.
We have assigned more staff out back as well as our 5th grade helpers. Please be very mindful of our students---cars are not to move unless they have been instructed too.
Please remember the following safety procedures:
1. No cell phone usage in the car line.
2. Parents are asked not to get out of their cars and help their students out----it can cause distraction therefore leading to an accident. Our morning helpers will help any student that needs it.
3. Students do not exit their cars until the whistle has been blown.
4. Place all cars in park to keep for having unnecessary movement.
5. Be aware of your surrounding and students that may be passing in front of cars.
We are going to try our new procedure this week and make any adjustments needed.
Thanks for all your help,

It is our goal at Mt. Juliet Elementary to use optimal teaching and learning time each day. Our school day starts at 7:15 A.M. and ends at 2:15 P.M. Students should be in their classrooms ready to start their day at 7:15 A.M. each morning. The school doors are unlocked at 6:45 A.M. with bus duty teachers eager to greet our students each morning. Students riding the buses use the front entrance for both arrival and dismissal. Students that are car riders are greeted and dismissed in the back of the school. Drivers of our car riders should use the East gate entrance and drive around to the back of the building. Parents should not allow their children to use the front entrance of the school unless the student is tardy and arriving after 7:15 A.M. Any student that is tardy must be signed in by a parent in the front office. Please see the front of the agenda for more details concerning arrival and dismissal.
