I want to welcome you to the 2015-2016 school year. As the principal of Elzie D. Patton Elementary, it is my sincere honor and pleasure to be able to assist everyone in making this the best year ever. At EPE we are committed to creating and maintaining an orderly, trusting and caring environment where teaching and learning is exciting and students are assisted as they develop into lifelong learners. It is my desire to provide expanded opportunities for our students to acquire the skills needed to become productive citizens in our vastly changing global society.

This is my 25th year in education and I am truly excited. I was the assistant principal at Elzie D. Patton Elementary for 3 years and prior to that I worked in the Rutherford County School System for 19 years where I taught grades 3rd, 4th and 5th; 6th grade Reading and Social Studies and 7th and 8th grade computer classes. I was a Title I funded teacher and also a Reading and Math Coach where I assisted teachers with best practices for student achievement and growth. I attended Middle Tennessee State University, where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, my Master’s Degree in Library Science and my Specialist in Education Degree in Administration and Supervision.

Our faculty and staff always welcome the support and steadfast commitment of parents, community leaders, and all stakeholders to join us and become active participants in the lives of EPE students. We appreciate your support and know you are vital to the success of our school.

Please feel free to contact us at Elzie D. Patton Elementary School for any additional information.

Mr. Steven Wright, Assistant Principal

Email Mr. Wright

My name is Steven Wright.  My last 23 years of teaching have been in Rutherford County, primarily at Walter Hill Elementary School.  While there I was a classroom teacher, an interventionist, instructional leader, and the RTI Coach.  I firmly believe all students can learn at high levels when given the proper instruction, pacing, and environment.

When not at school, I also work at my church as the assistant music director and I teach group fitness classes at The Wellness Center in Murfreesboro.  I am also an avid runner.

I look forward to meeting all of the parents, students, and staff at Elzie Patton Elementary School!
