Safe Routes to School Grant

As you may have heard, the City of Mt. Juliet was awarded a Safe Routes to School Grant to put sidewalks from Woodvale Court to Elzie Patton Elementary School.   Currently, they are submitting to put sidewalks from Mt. Juliet Middle School down Woodridge Place to Curd Road and Golden Bear Gateway. If awarded this grant, it would allow for sidewalks to connect to all three schools and all five in the future.

This would be very beneficial to the school-home connectivity in our area, not to mention cut down on the traffic that we currently experience, as well as provide a safe environment for walkers and bikers.

In conjunction with the Safe Routes to Schools Grant, a parent survey and student tally must be completed two times this school year.  I have attached a copy of the parent and student survey. The student survey will be conducted at school by your child's teacher. The student tally survey is done in the classroom on two days, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.  It is a simple survey, taken by a raise of the students’ hand.  If you prefer your child not participate in this survey, please send a note to school stated you would like for your child to be opted out.

A copy of the parent survey is also attached. We will send home a paper survey for you to complete on Wednesday of this week.  Please complete the survey and return to your child's teacher by Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016. If you have more than one child at EPE, please complete for the child who has the next birthdate closet to today’s date.
