Food and Beverages:

Food is not allowed during the class unless given by the teacher (please inform/remind me of personal allergies) or required due to dietary concerns.  Because our classroom is not air conditioned and tremendously hot during the summer months, water bottles are allowed.

Arriving and Leaving Class:

When students arrive in class each day, there will be a warm-up activity.  When the bell rings, students are expected to work quietly on this exercise.  Activities may include journal-writing, answering writing prompts, grammar exercises, vocabulary, etc.  Students are expected to leave class when dismissed.  Please do not begin packing up your things before you have been told.

Late Work Policy:

Checked-in assignments will receive a "3" process grade if turned in on time. If an assignment is turned in one or two days late, or not completed up to the student's ability, it will receive a "2" process grade. Finally, if the assignment is over three days late, it will receive a "1" or "0" process grade. I reserve the right to use my best judgment in any grey areas. Late graded assignments may be penalized one half-letter grade per day late. Students consistently turning in late work will be referred to the homework assistance program.

Absences and Make-Up Work:

Students will be allowed one day for every excused day absent from school to complete make-up work.  Students with an unexcused absence will not be allowed to make up work.  It is the student’s responsibility to retrieve missed class notes, assignments, or other relevant information from me before/after class, during a free period, via email or before/after school.
