Central School PTA is proud to have an educational partnership with Opportunity Education, a non-profit dedicated to improving access to education in parts of the world that need it most. Through this Opportunity Education partnership, we teamed up with our sister school Kurirye-u English Mediam Pre & Primary School, located in Moshi, Tanzania.

Opportunity Education was founded by Joe Ricketts, who, while on safari, met a tour guide named Wilson.  When asked what he did outside of tour guide work, Wilson explained that he took his earnings from as a tour guide and funded a school for his village believing the education offers them hope for the future. Mr. Ricketts was deeply moved by this man's determination to help the children of his village and began supplying them with off the shelf educational videos and equipment on which to play them.  Now, Opportunity Education supplies 500,000 students, 5000 teachers in 1000 schools in 11 countries -- and counting -- with professionally developed curriculum, teaching materials, teacher training programs and Sister School relationships so that these children might have a chance to learn and improve their future.
