Expectations

1st grade: Students will learn concepts and/or skills through formal teacher direction.  It is expected that these students will be able to use the:
  • shift keys,
  • space bar
  • delete key
  • return key
  • period
  • comma
  • forward slash (/)
  • question mark (?)
2nd grade: Students will learn concepts and/or skills through formal teacher direction.  It is expected that these students will be able to use both hands to find the:
  • letter keys
  • number keys
  • symbol keys
  • special function keys
3rd grade: Keyboarding is formally introduced early in the year. Students will recognize right hand/left hand orientation, master correct finger placement, and use correct keyboarding techniques. 
4th grade: Keyboarding is reviewed/reinforced early in the year and students are expected to have mastered hand placement and letter location in order to easily complete projects for the classroom.
