8th Grade Unit 1: Seven Dimensions of Wellness and Health Goals

Health is everywhere.  Below are the seven dimensions of wellness.


Type and print a final goals reflection.  Attach this reflection to ALL of your goals materials and be prepared to turn it in on Friday.


Use the following questions as guidelines to reflect on the process of setting and working toward a health goal.  Feel free to be honest as long as you are also respectful.

 

Your reflection should be at least three paragraphs with at least five sentences in each paragraph.  You can choose to respond to all questions or some of them.  Use proper spelling and grammar.

 

Paragraph One:  Reflect on your goal.

Guiding Questions:  What was your health goal?  Why did you choose it?  Do you think it was a good idea?  Would you choose it again?   If not, what would you change?

 

Paragraph Two:  Reflect on the process of tracking your goal and the progress you made (or didn’t make toward your goal.) 

Guiding Questions:  Were you successful most of the time at working toward your goal?  Why or why not?  Did tracking your goal help you or make you feel more accomplished?  Was it difficult to track?  Why?  What strategies helped you?    What would you do differently?  What skills, traits, or behaviors enabled you to reach your goal?

 

Paragraph Three: Reflect on the entire project.

Guiding Questions: How did you feel about setting a goal and tracking it for three weeks?  What was the process like for you?  What happened as you worked toward your goal?  Did you enjoy it?  Did you talk with your parents or another person about it?  Is there anything else I might like to know?   How did it feel to reach your goal?  Are you encouraged to set another?  What would you do differently if you were to do this again?

 

Optional:  What would you change about this process/project/experience if you could?  Do you have any other thoughts you would like to share?

 

You should turn in:

                  Official yellow goals form

                  Check-Ins for Weeks 1 and 2

                  If you choose to continue your goal for a third week, include that as well.

                  A typed reflection
