I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing

Sing and learn this song. 3rd, 4th, 5th please learn the harmony and the melody. 4th graders please learn the recorder part.

The music I am singing with is from the Silver Burdett music series my school district owns. The notation was sent home at the last homework handout to grades 3rd, 4th, & 5th.

Joke: Why was the singer so good at baseball?

Answer: He had perfect pitch.

In music having perfect pitch means you can hear if the sounds are in tune or not. Most people only have relative pitch, which means they can hear if music sounds like it is in tune, but not if it is perfectly in tune.

Of course when playing baseball or softball a perfect pitch is when the pitcher can throw right where they aim.

The Third Base Coach a silent movement activity / Move It! Anyone missing baseball? Today we will get up, grab a baseball cap and move to Bizet's 'Carmen Suite: Habanera'. This music is actually from the opera Carmen. Today we will pretend we are giving baseball signals, though. Enjoy!

Naughty Tabby Cat, song, game

- 1st grade assignment, but a fun song & game for all ages.

1st grade - Mom & Dad - link to songs

This time of year 1st graders in music class would be working on learning songs to sing for moms & dads. I am thinking many of my 1st graders will still want to honor their parents! So, learn these songs for your parents. Then sing the songs for them!

Also create something for your parents- color a picture, dance a dance, put on a puppet show, make a youtube playlist, or fix them a snack. You know your parents and I bet you can think of ways to let them know how much you love them.

Ask your parents to share your creations & your songs with Mrs. Maynard PLEASE, maynardt@wildroseschools.org
