Mission: The health education program at WHUFSD is designed to help students become self-directed learners who value and protect their health.  Students will be able to obtain, interpret, understand and use valid health information and reliable health services to enhance health.  Students will become advocates, developing the necessary skills to improve and protect their health as well as the health of others.

Teacher:  Mrs. Mead has a B.S. in Kinesiology from Penn State University and a M.A. in Health Education from the Teachers College at Columbia University.  She has taught health education for 7 years.  She was awarded the Amazing Teacher of the Year for the Capital Zone by NYSAHPERD in 2008, and will serve as the Health Section President beginning November 2017.  When she is not at school, you'll likely find her enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two children.  She enjoys hiking, downhill skiing, and most outdoor adventures.  She teaches group fitness classes at the YMCA and loves reading about health and nutrition.
