Algebra 1 (A, CP)

Algebra 1 is designed for freshmen students. Enrollment in algebra 1 is predicated on student’s prior knowledge in pre-algebra. Algebra 1 builds a strong conceptual foundation for students as they progress through a mathematics continuum.

In this course students will explore relationships among the following key themes: Relationships between Quantity and Reasoning with Equations, Linear Relationships, Expressions and Equations, Functions and Modeling, and Descriptive Statistics. Student’s studying algebra 1 will have regular opportunities to use a graphing calculator to explore higher-level concepts. All algebra 1 courses focus on reasoning to solve problems, and communication of solutions through various methods of representation.
