I was born in Stateboro, Georgia, but raised in Rabun Gap in Rabun County. I was educated in the Rabun County School System and was a graduate in 1994. My wife, Wendy Mullis, a first grade teacher at Mt. Yonah Elementary School, and I met while in high school and were married in 1997. It was in that year that we moved to White County and have lived here since that time. I have three children: Chaz, 13; Maddie, 11; and Jared, 9. In my spare time, I enjoy involving my family in various types of outings including: hiking, camping, and traveling.

I completed an undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Education with a focus on English and History at North Georgia College and State University. I completed a masters degree in Reading Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Secondary Education through Grand Canyon University.

My experience in teaching began in youth ministry at a local church. While there, I prepared lessons for students in sixth through eighth grades. The next step in my experience involved working as a substitute teacher in the White County School System. I stood in for teachers in grades K-12 learning about the various dynamics found in the range of classrooms. Finally, I was hired to teach dual subjects in the seventh grade at White County Middle School. The two subjects were English and language arts and social studies. I have taught these subjects either simultaneously or individually for the past nine years.

My experience has continued in student-related extracurricular activities where I have coached wrestling, high school football, and both girls and boys soccer. This year I will be the head coach for the boys soccer team.
