Experience

This was an article written about me. I had the distinct honor of being selected  as a Cambridge Who's Who and the article tells about me....

Linda Ruth Ashworth, Kindergarten Teacher at Jack P. Nix Primary School, (now Tesnatee Gap Elementary School) has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of primary education.

Ms. Ashworth has 20+ years of professional experience in the education field and specializes in teaching kindergarten students. Experienced with both first and second-grade students, she prides herself on providing her pupils with a hands-on learning experience. At her current post, she enjoys teaching kindergarten. In the past, she has been responsible for organizing the annual Earth Day function for the school and is a teacher support specialist. She has served as a  member of the science, social studies, safety, and report card committees. (also served on Governing Council as secretary) Ms. Ashworth has also worked with the  aspiring leaders program. She considers her students achieving success to her motto that it happens  in their own timing and in their own way. "Kids don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Once the students learn that you love them they will trust you and then and only then will they open their hearts and their minds to the journey that you want to take with them," says Mrs. Ashworth.

A decorated award winner, Ms. Ashworth (the recipient of the Relay for Life Marshall Anderson Heart and Soul Award 2016) was honored with the  opportunity to be on the New York radio station spotlite 2014,  the Lillian Shelnut Humanitarian Award in 2010, the Michael Brandon Young Award in 2007, the Outstanding Teacher Award in the National Honor Roll in 2006, the Science Teacher of the Year Award in 2003, the Teacher of the Year Award from the Soil and Water Conservation District in 1996, the Conservation Teacher of the Year Award in 1995, and the State Elementary Teacher of the Year Award in 1995. A certified teacher support specialist, she received her Education Specialist Degree in Administration from Lincoln Memorial University in 2006, her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from North Georgia College and State University in 1993 and 1990 respectively. Included in Who's Who Among American Teachers (2005-2006) Ms. Ashworth is a member of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators. She also has served as  president  and vice president of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers honor society and as a Relay for Life county wide committee chairman.

Ms. Ashworth is the proud mother of Winston and Makaila Smith. She is the daughter of her  wonderful parents Ed and Flo Ashworth.

Bio
I am Ms. Linda and we are the bees. Come along and buzz with me. We will be the best that we can be. We will bee safe, bee sweet and bee smart. I am so proud that your child is in our class.
I teach with Ms. Rebecca Grizzle. She is my partner and does an amazing job teaching right along side with me. We are here to make a difference. We will reach your child where he/she is and take him/her as far as this road will take us to. If I have 20 different students I will teach 20 different ways. We like to hear it, do it, dance it, make it, read it, feel it, sing it, write it, paint it. We do whatever it takes to learn it.
Thank you. We have a lot to do, so let's get busy.
Love Ms. Linda

What`s going on in the hive?

We are the busy bees...look what all the buzz is about...

We will be  learning so much this year.

Phonics and Reading

We will learn letters, sounds, words and how to spell the words to be able to read and write sentences and stories.

We will be in guided reading  groups and learn at our levels and move ahead when we are ready or stop and slow down when we need help.

We will go to independent stations and learn in differentiated ways that meet our needs most.

Math

We will learn our numbers and our quantities and how to compose and decompose numbers. We will learn about how to break down the numbers for example: 19 one ten frame and 9 more ones.

We will be doing shapes. flat shapes like triangles, squares, circles, and rectangles. Solid shapes like cubes, spheres, rectangular prisms,  cones, and cylinders.

We will work in small groups in math on the skills that we need to know and we will move ahead when we are ready and it will be differentiated amongst each type of learner on knowing when we need to slow down.

S.S., Science, Health

We will be learning about friendship, patriotism, countries and their cultures. We will be learning about nature and the earth. We will be learning about how this world works and how we fit in it.

Just a side note to let you know how we roll in the busy bee hive...People say that some people march to the beat of a different drum. Sometimes we have to drum to the beat of a different marcher. This is a Standards Based Classroom We are going to do it and do it until we get it right. If one thing isn't working we will do something different. We are teaching until we learn it. We will go back until we get it and we will move forward as soon as we are ready and we may do it at different times in different ways and that is okay.

Thank you for visiting the hive....

I am Ms. Linda and we are the bees come along and buzz with me........
