Bio:

I grew up in Southwest Georgia in a sweet little town called Climax, near Bainbridge, Georgia. I am one of eight siblings. I graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1981-GO Bearcats!! I moved to Athens, Georgia in 1984 to finish a pharmacy degree, but moved into the field of Agriculture. After graduation, I was married in 1992 to a wonderful woman named Sophie Melyn (Mel). Unfortunately, she passed away in 2005 of breast cancer. I stayed in the Athens area for the next 7 years, at which time I moved to the beautiful mountains of Northeast Georgia. I currently reside in Cleveland, Georgia, near the Sautee/Duncan Bridge area. I love the mountains and I love working for White County Schools-what a wonderful family. I am proud to be a member of this community. Go Warriors!!

Education:

I completed a Master’s degree in Arts in Education (Special Education) with both general and adaptive curriculum for special education (K-12) and a cognitive level for ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies (K-8) from Piedmont College in 2009. I received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Georgia in 1992.

Experience:

I have been teaching for over 13 years, first starting with Clarke County Schools in Athens, Georgia in Special Education in 2002. I was special education paraprofessional, then move into a teaching position under a provisional licence in 2005 until I finished my master's degree in education in 2009. I taught in Athens-Clarke County School District until 2012. I then moved to the North Georgia Mountains in the summer of 2012. I started teaching at White County Middle School in 2013 after taking a year off. I was also a certificated Special Education Substitute from 2012-2013 for Rabun, Habersham and White Counties.
