Workforce Recruitment Program

The Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) is a recruitment and referral program that connects federal and private sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through  summer internships and permanent full-time jobs.

In order to do this, trained WRP recruiters from federal agencies will conduct personal phone interviews with interested candidates from participating colleges and universities across the country. Candidates represent all majors, and range from first year college students to graduate students. Information gathered from candidate interviews is stored in a searchable database available to federal Human Resources Specialists, Equal Employment Opportunity Specialists, and other hiring officials in federal agencies to be considered for future and current opportunities.

To qualify, an eligible candidate:
  • Must have an intellectual disability, severe physical disability, or psychiatric disability which makes the candidate eligible to use the Schedule A hiring authority
    • Read “The ABC’s of Schedule A” posted in the Resources section of the website
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Must be a current, full-time, degree-seeking, post-secondary student, unless they are taking a reduced course load due to a disability OR are in their final semester. Candidates who graduated prior to October, 2012, are NOT eligible to participate this year.
