Welcome to the Career Development Skill-Building Directory

According to a survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE, 2012), employers identified key skills that they look for in a potential job/internship candidate.  The tabs above reflect these top skill sets. As you consider creating a resume and applying for jobs/internships, think about the skills that you need to develop in order to be competitive in the job market. To begin the process of developing these skills, the Office of Personal & Career Development wants to give you a jumpstart at identifying organizations and opportunities for acquiring these skills.

Click on a tab/skill above to get a full list of on-campus Wake Forest-related activities that will assist you in developing the top skills that you will need for the world of work. By no means is this an exhaustive list, but merely a place to help you get started!

Reminder:
After completing any of the suggested activities, remember to incorporate those activities and skills onto your resume. For assistance, attend our daily drop-in hours in Reynolda Hall 230. You might also want to practice talking about your skills and experiences in a mock interview situation, using the STAR Interview Approach (learn more here: http://career.opcd.wfu.edu/practice-for-an-interview/behavioral-interviews/).  To make an appointment to have a mock interview, contact the OPCD at 336.758.5902 or stop by Reynolda Hall 230.
