Below are the morning announcements for today. 
 
CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Any 7th or 8th grade student who wants to run for Student Council Officers, please see Dr. McHugh in room 408 by Friday to be put on the ballot.
  • Every Friday the WFMS Student Ambassadors will be hosting "Grub Club" upstairs in the social work/grade level office.  If you are looking to meet new friends and/or eat lunch in a safe space join us on Friday during your lunch period! See you there!
  • Attention all students who are interested in wrestling:  There will be open mats for all middle school wrestlers on Wednesday, October 24 from 7:00-8:30 pm at the High School.  Get yourself ready for the season, all levels are welcome!
  • 6th grade Student Advisory is meeting today in room 205.
  • The Harvest Dane is being held on Friday, October 26.  Tickets can be purchased in the 6th grade office for $3.00 plus 2 Colonial Cash.  The Dance is from 2:30 - 3:50 pm.  There will be a 3:50 pm bus home.  School appropriate costumes may be worn.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • October is Bullying Prevention Month.  
  • Come to Island Cinema,  Friday, October 19, at 6 PM to see Goosebumps 2 - Haunted Halloween movie with your friends. $10 gets you admission, soda, and a drink. This is not a drop off event.  Your parents must attend.   However!! No worries there is a separate movie for the parents.  They will be able to watch the movie A Star is Born which will begin at 5:45 pm while you hang with your friends 
  • The National Junior Honor Society is still collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste to help victims of recent hurricane devastation.  Please consider donating to this worthy cause.
  • Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon and will turn the Main Office Conference Room into our very own bookstore. Find hundreds of books from new and favorite authors, popular series, cool posters and school supplies, not to mention fun! The Scholastic Book Fair will be here from October 23rd to October 25th and everyone is invited!  Book Fair will be open during school hours and parent teacher conferences.
  • The William Floyd Community Summit will be hosting it's 2nd annual Broadway Variety Show.  Auditions will be held at the Community Library from October 22 - 23 from 3-5 pm and October 28 from 12-4 pm.  All selections must be from a musical.  Singers, dancers and actors are all welcome to try out
CANCELLATIONS:
  • THERE ARE NO 2:50 PM BUSES TODAY.  ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO WILL BE STAYING FOR A CLUB OR THE AFTER-SCHOOL ADVANTAGE PROGRAM MAY STAY AFTER SCHOOL.  THESE STUDENTS WILL BE TAKING THE 3:50 PM BUSES HOME.
  • There will not be after school library on Wednesday, October 24.

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:

  • The boys soccer team defeated Oregon 2-1.  Eduardo Marroquin and Nick Raftis scored the goals for Floyd.  Alex Morales, Kleberson Reyes, Jacob Cussimano and Christian Oretego played a great game on defense.  Dylan Von Brook played outstanding in goal.

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Today is the last day to audition for Jazz Band.  Please see Mrs. Conefry with any questions.
  • Code Club will be meeting Tuesday, October 16 from 2:50 pm - 3:50 pm in the Library.  Stop by the Library for a permission slip.
  • Do you like to have fun with friends and learn a new skill.  We will be having a brief meeting today at the beginning of 8th period for all students interested in twirling.
  • Woodworking will meet today.  It is a closed group.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONGRATULATIONS:

  • The William Floyd Middle School football team defeated Ronkonkoma Middle School yesterday.  Scoring for the Colonials was Laduke Harris, Christian Alicea, and Greg Pendola.  Playing great defense for the Colonials was Dylan Harris, Wayne Street, and Rob Fontonez.  AJ Karen also had an interception.  An overall great effort by all.  The Colonials next game is against our arch rival Longwood at home on Wednesday of next week at 4:00 pm.  Please remember you need to go home as you would normally do and get a ride back to the school.

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Jazz Band will not rehearse this week, but all interested students must see Mrs. Conefry to audition this week.  Sign-up for a time on the Band Notes Board in the music hallway.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • October is Bullying Prevention Month.  
  • Get your Colonial Cash Ready!! The school store will hold its grand opening this Thursday and Friday during all lunch periods.  Make sure your Colonial Cash has your first and last name on it with a staff member's signature.  Employees please check the schedule in the cafeteria to see if you are working.  Any questions - please see Mrs. Archacki in room 214.
  • Reminder to all students the PTO Fall Fundraiser order forms are due by Friday, October 12.
  • Code Club will be meeting Monday, October 15 from 2:50 pm - 3:50 pm in the Library.  Stop by the Library for a permission slip.
  • The William Floyd Community Summit will be hosting it's 2nd annual Broadway Variety Show.  Auditions will be held at the Community Library from October 22 - 23 from 3-5 pm and October 28 from 12-4 pm.  All selections must be from a musical.  Singers, dancers and actors are all welcome to try out

CANCELLATIONS:
  • THERE ARE NO 2:50 PM BUSES TODAY.  ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO WILL BE STAYING FOR A CLUB OR THE AFTER-SCHOOL ADVANTAGE PROGRAM MAY STAY AFTER SCHOOL.  THESE STUDENTS WILL BE TAKING THE 3:50 PM BUSES HOME.
  • Mock Trial will not be meeting today.  Our first meeting for old and new members will be next Thursday, October 18.
  • Science STEP Club will not be meeting this week.  Applications for new members will be handed out this week.
  • Flute Choir will not be meeting today.  Our next rehearsal will be on Thursday, October 18 from 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm in the band room.
  • The Good News Studio is cancelled for today,
  • The Student Council meeting for 7th and 8th graders is cancelled for today.
 

CONGRATULATIONS:

  • The Boy's Soccer team defeated Ronkonkoma 4-0.  Darius Panniccia, Eduardo Marroquin, Antonio Cortes and Kleberson Reyes scored the goals for Floyd.  Congratulations!

  • Today is National Chess Day! What better way to celebrate than to head on down to room 206 with Mr. Rivera for Chess Club.

Below are the morning announcements for today. 
 
CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Attention all 7th & 8th grade chorus members.  We have a new procedure for getting lunch during chorus.  All students who wish to purchase a hot lunch must stop in the cafeteria to pre-order.  As soon as you get off your bus go to the cafeteria - there will be a person at the table closest to the door.  They will take your name and your order so your lunch will be ready at the end of the 7th period.
  • Calling all artists we will have our first art club meeting next Tuesday, October 9.  Not this week.
  • Woodworking Club starts today.  All 7th and 8th graders that have been approved are able to attend.
  • The Good News Studio begins today in room 421.  All Students are welcome to attend.  
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Our fundraiser has been distributed to the 6th and 7th graders.  Any student wishing to participate in the school fundraiser and did not receive a packet may pick up a packet in the main office. All the money that is raised will go back to our school to support activities, etc.  Please try to participate.

  • Come to the WFMS PTO Sponsored event at Island Cinemas on Sunday, Oct, 7 at 6:00 pm to see The Clock in the Wall movie with your friends.  $10.00 gets you admission, popcorn and a drink.  Your parents must attend.  However, there is a separate movie for your parents.  They will be able to watch the movie Peppermint while you hand with your friends.  There is flyer located in our virtual backpack.
