GOOD MORNING WILLIAM FLOYD MIDDLE SCHOOL

MAY 25 - 6th GRADE FIELD TRIP - CRADLE OF AVIATION
WEDNESDAY, MAY 31 - NO ADVANTAGE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS THAT WE WILL BE ADHERING TO THE DRESS CODE LOCATED IN THE WFMS STUDENT HANDBOOK.
NO CELL PHONE USE IS PERMITTED IN THE CAFETERIA.

Today's announcements are:
1.    For more information regarding the WFSD Family Support Center, please see the flyer link at the top of this page, it is the flyer titled Parent to Parent.
2.    Let's see which first period class can collect the most Box Tops during the month of May!  Ask family and friends to help you collect Box Tops.  The three first period classes that bring the most Box Tops (one for each grade level) will receive a special surprise.  The contest is running from Monday, May 8 to Friday, June 2. 
3.    This is a reminder for student eligibility to Attend the End of Year Activities.

The following information is taken directly from the WFMS Student Handbook.

Social Activities • Social activities such as dances, games, plays, end of year events, etc., are sponsored by a school organization. 

Students are in good standing if 30 days prior to an event:  

1.    They have not served an In-School Suspension or an Out of School Suspension

2.    They have not had 2 or more referrals resulting in a consequence 
3.    They do not have outstanding assignments, they have not been excused from participating in Physical Education 

4.    They do not have 3 or more lateness’ to class or school 

5.    They do not have 3 or more unverified absences or verified illegal absences

In regards to the end of year picnic if a student cannot participate in gym they cannot attend the picnic.
4.    Woodworking Club is cancelled this week.  Our last meetings are June 5th and 12th.
5.    Attention all 8th graders - if you are playing a Fall Sport, you must have a current valid sports physical.  HS Football starts on August 14.  All other HS Sports start on August 21.
6.    Jazz Band will rehearse today after school.  All are expected to attend.
7.    Mr. Dignam's 4th period lessons are cancelled for today.
8.    Due to today's weather - the National Junior Honor Society Meeting is cancelled!
9.    Due to the 6th grade field trip. Today's 6th Grade Intramurals will be cancelled and moved to NEXT Thursday, June 1.  See you all next Thursday.

- The cafeteria serves breakfast from 7:40-8:10. A pass from the Main Office or Cafeteria is required to get off the bus early and you must get breakfast before you go to your locker.

- WFMS collects Box Tops for Education. Please bring in as many as you can to help raise money for our school.

- Lost & found is located in the back of the cafeteria.

- If you forgot an item at home and someone brings it in you will not be called out of class. Stop at the attendance office during lunch or between classes.

Reminders to all students

1. There is no eating or drinking on our school buses or in classrooms.

2. You are never able to touch or slap another individual at WFMS. Those caught engaging in this behavior will receive consequences. 

3. Backpacks are not permitted throughout the school day. 

4. If you are driven to school you must exit your car on the right. 

5. Appropriate apparel is required at WFMS. Short skirts, short shorts & belly shirts are not permitted. 

6. Electronic devices are prohibited in the building, including ear buds & phones.

15.   The tennis team won their match against Oregon Middle School yesterday 7 to 0.  Wins were recorded by Sergei Rogers, Matt Kolongowski, Matt Dominguez, Vincent Bryers, Ryan DiGiacomo, Anthony Barone, Dorian Deleon, Mikhail Zamin, Nicohlas Moscatiello, Joe Esposito, Kaden Burdge, Steven Rustrian, Ray Rivera, Malik Bright and Zachary Luhrs.
16.   Robotics will not meet after school today.
17.   Mr. Dignam's 4th period lessons are cancelled for today.
18.   Express Homework Help will be available in the library tomorrow morning.

Social Activities • Social activities such as dances, games, plays, end of year events, etc., are sponsored by a school organization. 

Students are in good standing if 30 days prior to an event:  

1.    They have not served an In-School Suspension or an Out of School Suspension

2.    They have not had 2 or more referrals resulting in a consequence 
3.    They do not have outstanding assignments, they have not been excused from participating in Physical Education 

4.    They do not have 3 or more lateness’ to class or school 

5.    They do not have 3 or more unverified absences or verified illegal absences

In regards to the end of year picnic if a student cannot participate in gym they cannot attend the picnic.
8.    The Pizza party will be held tomorrow afternoon in room 311.  You will be taking the 3:20 pm bus home. Will the following winners please check in today with Mrs. Weyer in room 311 to tell her the name of the guest joining you.  Congratulations to the following students: Brianna Johnson, Daniella Obando, Malik Bright, Evan Rivera, Samaya Kennings, Daniel Melendez, Jason Beaver, Dina Bianco, Kaylee Fleming, Serena Musso.
9.    Congratulations to Jared Diaz for earning Perfect Attendance for third quarter.
10.   Beginning tomorrow, the National Junior Honor Society will be selling blow pops during lunch periods to raise money for ALS.  Blow pops are $1.00 a piece.  Please help us LICK ALS!!

Today's announcements are:
1.    For more information regarding the WFSD Family Support Center, please see the flyer link at the top of this page, it is the flyer titled Parent to Parent.
2.    Attention all spring athletes the locker room will only be open from 8:00-8:10 am.  It will not be reopened until your coach gets here.
3.    No one is permitted to carry their backpack to 8th period class and no one is permitted to have a lock other than the one provided by the school on their locker.
4.    All students who are receiving breakfast must get off the bus and go directly to the cafeteria.  DO NOT GO TO YOUR LOCKER FIRST!
5.    We are combining with Mt. Sinai school district to collect backpacks, new and gently used (washed if dirty) for less privileged students in Haiti.  Please bring them to the Main Office. 
6.    Let's see which first period class can collect the most Box Tops during the month of May!  Ask family and friends to help you collect Box Tops.  The three first period classes that bring the most Box Tops (one for each grade level) will receive a special surprise.  The contest is running from Monday, May 8 to Friday, June 2. 
8.   Do you like pizza? Use your Colonial Cash to enter the PBIS raffle for a chance for you and a friend to attend the after school pizza party next Friday, May 19.  The raffle is located in the Attendance Office.  Winners will be chosen today.

13.   There will be a mandatory NJHS meeting today immediately following school in the Auditorium.  This meeting is for NEWLY ACCEPTED 7TH GRADE STUDENTS ONLY! You must be present at this meeting to participate in our June 1 Induction Ceremony.
14.   REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS THAT WE WILL BE ADHERING TO THE WFMS DRESS CODE LOCATED IN THE WFMS STUDENT HANDBOOK.

11.   The softball team defeated Central Islip 15-0.  Corrine Bremner and Casey Musselman combined on a no-hitter.  Adriana Alicea, Corrine Bremner and Skylar Edwards had big hits on offense.  CONGRATULATIONS!!
12.   The tennis team won their match yesterday against Eastport South Manor 5 to 2.  The winning matches came from Sergei Rogers, Matthew Kolongowski, Vincent Bryers, Ryan DiGiacomo, Mikhail Zamin, Nicholas Moscatiello, Steven rustrian and Kaden Burdge.  Great Job.
13.   The Boys 6th grade Flag Football game is cancelled this Saturday.  See you next week.
