CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Today is the last day to audition for Jazz Band.  Please see Mrs. Conefry with any questions.
  • Code Club will be meeting Tuesday, October 16 from 2:50 pm - 3:50 pm in the Library.  Stop by the Library for a permission slip.
  • Do you like to have fun with friends and learn a new skill.  We will be having a brief meeting today at the beginning of 8th period for all students interested in twirling.
  • Woodworking will meet today.  It is a closed group.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • October is Bullying Prevention Month.  
  • Get your Colonial Cash Ready!! The school store will hold its grand opening this Thursday and Friday during all lunch periods.  Make sure your Colonial Cash has your first and last name on it with a staff member's signature.  Employees please check the schedule in the cafeteria to see if you are working.  Any questions - please see Mrs. Archacki in room 214.
  • Reminder to all students the PTO Fall Fundraiser order forms are due by Friday, October 12.
  • The William Floyd Community Summit will be hosting it's 2nd annual Broadway Variety Show.  Auditions will be held at the Community Library from October 22 - 23 from 3-5 pm and October 28 from 12-4 pm.  All selections must be from a musical.  Singers, dancers and actors are all welcome to try out

CANCELLATIONS:
  • THERE ARE NO 2:50 PM BUSES TODAY.  ONLY THOSE STUDENTS WHO WILL BE STAYING FOR A CLUB OR THE AFTER-SCHOOL ADVANTAGE PROGRAM MAY STAY AFTER SCHOOL.  THESE STUDENTS WILL BE TAKING THE 3:50 PM BUSES HOME.
 

CONGRATULATIONS:

  • The William Floyd Middle School football team defeated Ronkonkoma Middle School yesterday.  Scoring for the Colonials was Laduke Harris, Christian Alicea, and Greg Pendola.  Playing great defense for the Colonials was Dylan Harris, Wayne Street, and Rob Fontonez.  AJ Karen also had an interception.  An overall great effort by all.  The Colonials next game is against our arch rival Longwood at home on Wednesday of next week at 4:00 pm.  Please remember you need to go home as you would normally do and get a ride back to the school.

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Jazz Band will not rehearse this week, but all interested students must see Mrs. Conefry to audition this week.  Sign-up for a time on the Band Notes Board in the music hallway.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • October is Bullying Prevention Month.  
  • Get your Colonial Cash Ready!!   • The Boy's Soccer team defeated Ronkonkoma 4-0.  Darius Panniccia, Eduardo Marroquin, Antonio Cortes and Kleberson Reyes scored the goals for Floyd.  Congratulations!

  • Calling all artists we will have our first Art Club meeting today in room 422 from 2:50 - 3:50 .
  • Today is National Chess Day! What better way to celebrate than to head on down to room 206 with Mr. Rivera for Chess Club.

Below are the morning announcements for today. 
 
CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Attention all 7th & 8th grade chorus members.  We have a new procedure for getting lunch during chorus.  All students who wish to purchase a hot lunch must stop in the cafeteria to pre-order.  As soon as you get off your bus go to the cafeteria - there will be a person at the table closest to the door.  They will take your name and your order so your lunch will be ready at the end of the 7th period.
  • Calling all artists we will have our first art club meeting next Tuesday, October 9.  Not this week.
  • Woodworking Club starts today.  All 7th and 8th graders that have been approved are able to attend.
  • The Good News Studio begins today in room 421.  All Students are welcome to attend.

  • Our fundraiser has been distributed to the 6th and 7th graders.  Any student wishing to participate in the school fundraiser and did not receive a packet may pick up a packet in the main office. All the money that is raised will go back to our school to support activities, etc.  Please try to participate.

  • Come to the WFMS PTO Sponsored event at Island Cinemas on Sunday, Oct, 7 at 6:00 pm to see The Clock in the Wall movie with your friends.  $10.00 gets you admission, popcorn and a drink.  Your parents must attend.  However, there is a separate movie for your parents.  They will be able to watch the movie Peppermint while you hand with your friends.  There is flyer located in our virtual backpack.

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:

  • Jazz Band will meet today at 2:50 pm in the band room.   All interested musicians should attend.
  • Math Olympiads will meet today in room 204.  All 6th graders are welcome.
  • Calling all artists we will have our first art club meeting next Tuesday, October 9.  Not this week.
  • Any 7th & 8th graders interested in working in the school store.  Please join us for an informational meeting Wednesday at 2:50 pm in room 214.

  • Congratulations to the Girls Tennis team on their win over Saxton Middle School 7 to 0.  Winning matches were Allison Goodyear, Sabrina Barnosky, Jacky Sutherland, Alyssa Dingman, Maddie Beatty, Deanna Farrauto, Adrianna Filippeli, Alexa LaValle, Trinity Hibbert, Lilly Savnik, Chrinstina Dyakiv, Lindsay Rusakow, Angelina Glauber, Fiona Guida, faith Petersen and Valentina Petrillo.   Great job ladies!!

CONGRATULATIONS:

  • The William Floyd Middle School football team won their first game of the season yesterday be defeating a tough Oakdale Middle School by the score of 26-20.  Scoring for the Colonials were LaDuke Harris, Dylan Harris, Christian Alicea, and Terrel Cullum.  LaDuke Harris scored the winning touchdown with less than 5 seconds to go.  Great defense was played by Wayne Street, Kayrell Collins, Kentrell Robinson, Matthew Weary, and Rob Fontanez.  The teams first home game will be this Friday against Pathcouge-Medfore, come out and support your team!
  • Congratulations to the Girls Tennis team on their win over Bellport 6 to 1.  Winning matches were Adrianna Filippelli, Allison Goodyear, Jackie Sutherland, Alyssa Dingman, Lilly Savnik, Angelina Glauber, Fiona Guida, Christina Dyyakiv, Lindsay Rusakow, Alexa LaValle, Valentine Petrillo and Trinity Hibbert.  Great job ladies!!

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:
  • Attention all 7th & 8th grade chorus members.  We have a new procedure for getting lunch during chorus.  All students who wish to purchase a hot lunch must stop in the cafeteria to pre-order.  As soon as you get off your bus go to the cafeteria - there will be a person at the table closest to the door.  They will take your name and your order so your lunch will be ready at the end of the 7th period.
  • Calling all tree huggers, the environmental club meets today in room 208.  So come by and see your trophy.
  • Coffee House Club will meet in room 401.  All writers and artists are welcome.

  • Beginning Monday, October 1, 2018, students have the option to either board their regular buses or leave with a parent/guardian at 2:23 p.m. OR STAY AT WFMS to attend a teacher extra-help which will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m.  Buses will leave WFMS by 3:00 p.m.
  • Our fundraiser has been distributed to the 6th and 7th graders.  All the money that is raised will go back to our school to support activities, etc.  Please try to participate.
  • October is Bullying Prevention Month.  To kick off this month we will celebrate World Day of Bullying Prevention on Monday, October 1.  In honor of this day we ask everyone to wear a BLUE shirt to school on Monday and remember "Strong people stand up for themselves but the strongest people stand up for others."
