Below are the morning announcements for today. 

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:  

  • No late buses today. No extra help, no clubs, no Advantage. Everyone goes home on the 2:23 busesEnjoy your Spring vacation. 
  • 7th graders attending the field trip may see Ms. Drake in 409 to sign up for your bus. Go before 1st pd./after 8th pd. this week. 
  • If you are a lucky winner of "lunch with Ms. Schick" in your mystery egg from the school store just drop your ticket off to Mrs. Archacki in room 214 before you leave for Spring break. 
  • The Remembrance Garden Club is having a fundraiser until May 3rd. We are selling engraved bricks for the walkway near the gazebo. Eighth graders this is your chance to leave your legacy. See Ms. Morpurgo in room 307 for order forms.
  • Chorus students have their singing exam taking place during lessons this week. Be sure to attend your regularly scheduled lesson to ensure enough time to perform.  
  • Yearbooks sales are extended through April. Order online or with cash to Ms. Organ in room 203. More info on Ms. Organ's website & below.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The William Floyd Middle School’s 2019 Yearbook is currently on sale.  The cost is $30.00 & students must reserve their copy now.  

Orders will be taken now through April 30, 2019.  Books will be delivered and distributed in June.

 

This year’s book will have a hard cover and all 88 pages will be in color.  

The book is a beautiful collection of grades, 6, 7 & 8 along with school clubs, fall, winter & spring sports and band, orchestra & chorus

 classes.  

Also included will be 2018-2019

 s

chool events & activities including dance and performing groups.

 Your First and Last Name, Grade, Social Studies Teacher and Class Period

Cost increases after the April 30 deadline. This will be your only opportunity to guarantee a book is reserved for you. 

You may also go to Ms. Organ's website for more information. The informational flyer is located in the backpack below. 

  • The shuttle to the HS for the JV/Varsity Athletes will be at 2:23 and 2:50 pm.
  • Remember there is no cell phone use in the building.  No cell phones should be out.
  • Every locker must have a lock on it or you risk losing all your belongings. 
  • Did you know that plastic never biodegrades and BPA, a chemical in plastic straws, can lead to diabetes?  Let's change that by using reusable metal straws.  WFMS Student Council is selling stainless steel straws engraved with "William Floyd" for $4.00.  Purchase your straw in room 408 or fill out an order form and submit it to Dr. McHugh in room 408.
  • If you forget anything at home and it is dropped off during the school day it is your responsibility to stop by the Attendance Office and check during passing or at the end of the day.  You will not be called down.
  • You are not permitted to wear a hood of any type at any time while here at WFMS.  If you wear your hood you will be asked to remove your hoodie.
  • Students must have a pass to come to the library for extra help

  • Coffee House & Literary Magazine are cancelled until further notice.

  • All band students solo tests begin today. If you have a regular Friday lesson, check the schedule for your assigned time. 
  • 7/8th grade music students attending the Long Island Music Festival must submit money today. If you have not turned in your balance see your music teacher. 
  • Get your Colonial Cash ready!! For 3 Colonial Cash you get a plastic egg filled with great surprises! The school store will be selling the eggs today during all lunch periods. Employees please check the schedule to see if you are working.

  • No chamber orchestra today.
  • All students going on the Brian Pinkney field trip should report to the art room for an informational packet.
  • Get your Colonial Cash ready!! For only 3 Colonial Cash you can get a plastic egg filled with great surprises! The school store will be selling the eggs today & tomorrow during all lunch periods. Employees please check the schedule to see if you are working.

The William Floyd Middle School’s 2019 Yearbook is currently on sale.  The cost is $30.00 & students must reserve their copy now.  

Orders will be taken now through April 15, 2019.  Books will be delivered and distributed in June.

 

This year’s book will have a hard cover and all 88 pages will be in color.  

The book is a beautiful collection of grades, 6, 7 & 8 along with school clubs, fall, winter & spring sports and band, orchestra & chorus

 classes.

  • Did you know that plastic never biodegrades and BPA, a chemical in plastic straws, can lead to diabetes?  Let's change that by using reusable metal straws.  WFMS Student Council is selling stainless steel straws engraved with "William Floyd" for $4.00.  Purchase your straw in room 408 or fill out an order form and submit it to Dr. McHugh in room 408.
  • If you forget anything at home and it is dropped off during the school day it is your responsibility to stop by the Attendance Office and check during passing or at the end of the day.  You will not be called down.
  • You are not permitted to wear a hood of any type at any time while here at WFMS.  If you wear your hood you will be asked to remove your hoodie.

Below are the morning announcements for today. 

CLUB/GROUP MEETINGS:  

  • Jazz Band will rehearse today after school. All are expected to attend. 
  • Chess Club will not meet this week due to a union meeting.  We will meet next Tuesday.
  • Get your Colonial Cash ready!! For only 3 Colonial Cash you can get a plastic egg filled with great surprises! The school store will be selling the eggs this Thursday & Friday during all lunch periods. Employees please check the schedule to see if you are working. 
  • Yearbooks are still on sale. Order yours on line or bring cash to Ms. Organ in room 203. More info on Ms. Organ's website & below.
  • The WFMS Student Ambassadors are looking for new 6th grade members. If you have compassion for others, are a friendly face in our building & would like to make our school a better place then we invite you to join us. As student ambassadors we welcome new students to our building by providing tours, escorting them to their classes & being their first friend at their new school. We help out during school events such as 6th grade orientation & Showcase Night. We also participate in programs at our school that make WFMS a better place for all students such as Grub Club & last month's kindness challenge. If you would like to join our mission of helping every student feel like they belong, please see Ms. Puccio in the 7/8th grade office & become a WFMS Student Ambassador. 
  • College Fair/Career Expo at WFHS on Wednesday, April 17th 6-8:30pm.  Please see the flyer in the virtual backpack.
  • All students planning on attending the H.S. trip on Friday for the meet & greet with author/illustrator Brian Pinkney should meet after school today in room 421.  Make sure your permission slips are returned to Ms. Taisler or Mr. Kosta by tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS 

Congratulations to Kayla Gilmore & the girls varsity lacrosse team for their 14-1 win against Brentwood on Saturday. The varsity team won 76% of draw possessions that were led by Kayla. Kayla also tallied 3 goals & 1 assist. Keep up the great work & good luck against Connetquot on Wednesday. the varsity lactose team also looks forward to meeting all the new middle school lacrosse players this Friday at the varsity senior game. Go Floyd Girls Lacrosse!!!
