Way to Go Warriors
Congratulations to this year's CO-Valedictorians: Karyssa Davis and Seth Schrock. Great job Warriors

Westview is delighted to announce that the Lilly Scholarship is coming home!!  This very prestigious scholarship pays full tuition to any Indiana college or university.  Winners are selected on their academic performance in high school, SAT score, community service and leadership.  The top five finalists then participated in an interview with the LaGrange County Community Foundation.  With that being said, please help me congratulate Norman Miller on being the 2016-17 Lilly Scholarship recipient!!!

Each year, Westview selects one Senior to be our DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen.  This person is chosen based upon four criteria: dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.  Based on both teacher recommendations and student voting, our 2016 DAR Good Citizen is Seth Schrock.  Seth will automatically win $100, plus he can enter the state and national scholarship competition.  Congratulations, Seth!!

Congratulations to Karyssa Davis, Houston Haney and Derek Miller!!  They have been named to the 2017 NECC All-Academic Team.  Each year, our conference selects the top 25 students based on GPA and SAT/ACT score.  Each school receives 1-3 selections.  Once again, Westview received all three available slots.  So, please congratulate Karyssa, Houston and Derek when you see them!!

A Special Announcement for Seniors

Attention seniors, National Honor Society will be doing a senior acceptance letter wall. If you will be attending college in the fall and have received your acceptance letter from your college choice, please bring the letter in and hand it to Breanna Strand so that she may make a copy and return it to you. If you will not be attending college, we would still love to have you on the wall; please turn in a printed copy of details of your future plans with your signature or printed name on the front. We would like to have all papers in by Friday, May 19th.

A Note From Mr. Cory

Westview has assigned adult mentors to all seniors still in the building. Your mentor will be contacting you soon to set up a time to meet. The mentor will help you as you prepare to transition from high school to college or the workforce.

This is the first time we have done any program like this to mentor students. Your mentor will work with you as you have questions about work, college, life, taxes, etc.

We encourage you to build open communication with your mentor.

Good luck! We are here to help.

We are looking to offer a work training program second semester. This training would be sponsored by local factories and train you in actual job skills. Things like work safety, continuous improvement, hazardous materials, work ethic, and communications are some of the topics.

Our goal is to have students complete the training with the possibility of getting a job offer from one of the sponsoring businesses right after graduation.

If you are planning on entering the workforce after high school and would be interested in a program like this, please email me back and I'll put your name on the list.

This could be a huge opportunity for students to secure a job even before they graduate
