West Seattle Hi-Yu had a very successful summer festival and busy July with several appearances and parades, including our award-winning presentation in the Seafair Torchlight Parade on July 26th. Currently we’re in the process of wrapping things up for this season with two more parades: Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival on Sept 6th and Issaquah Salmon Days on Oct. 4th. We’re also wrapping up the business year, which ends on Sept. 30th.
We need new volunteers and members going into 2014-15, with elections for new board members at the General Meeting Sept. 8th.
If you would like to be a part of West Seattle’s community festival please come to that meeting, or contact Kristin Botuchis at botuchis@Comcast.net if you are willing to participate as a board member or other volunteer position:
Monday, Sept. 8th, 7pm
St. John meeting room

We are currently conducting a crowd-funding campaign to help with major repairs to the float. This is one of the last community funded floats in Washington. West Seattle, Seattle, and Burien are all part of our community, but we would love everyone to pitch in!
Please go to youcaring.com, either by following the link, or searching for West Seattle from the "You Caring" home page.

Be part of the 80th anniversary year for West Seattle Hi-Yu by submitting a design for the 2014 float. The winning design will launch our theme and button for the year, as well as inspiring Float Chairman (and designer) Duane Davis's final float design. YOUR float could be the one to represent West Seattle in as many as a dozen western Washington parades next summer! Any idea that captures the fun and longevity of the Hi-Yu community festival is encouraged. Here is a sketch of the float for general sizing. (Driver side view of float.pdf)
