2015-16 Teen Ambassador Program

Calling all girls and boys age 13 to 16 that live in West Seattle zip codes 98106-98146, we invite you to apply for our brand new Teen Ambassador Program!

This is a fun way to earn service hours and a perfect chance to gain experiences that could prepare you for the Senior Court.

Most of all, this is an amazing opportunity to get involved in the West Seattle community.

Orientation for parents and students: Mon. Oct 19th 7 pm Admiral Church

Application submissions: Oct. 19th ***DEADLINE EXTENDED!***

Interviews: Thurs. Oct 22nd

Final selection and presentation on Mon. Nov 2nd 7 pm Admiral Church

Teen Ambassadors have many opportunities to: 

  • Build leadership skills
  • Community service opportunities
  • Help build the West Seattle Hi-Yu parade float
  • Carry flags or banners in parades
  • Gain poise and confidence
  • Improve speaking abilities
  • Present a positive influence on other youth
  • Be recognized as a youth leader in the community
  • Assist with fund raising activities
  • Have fun!

is looking for Girl and Boy Candidates

for the 2016 Hi-Yu Junior Court

The West Seattle Hi-Yu festival organization is looking for candidates ages 8-12 to try out for the 2016 JUNIOR ROYALTY COURT. The current court - Queen Emily, Princesses Emma and Princess Audrey will be crowning new candidates at the Hi-Yu Junior Court Coronation and Reception on Monday, December 7th at Admiral Congregational Church.



It is a full year commitment of events and activities.

**Applications (below) are due by Friday, November 27th 2015. Junior Court interviews will be held on Thursday, December 3rd, 2015 from 5-8pm.

Senior Court West Seattle Hi-Yu Scholarship Program

Candidates benefit from our commitment to personal, professional, and academic development.  The program offers individual mentoring by a successful business members of the West Seattle community, cash scholarship awards, community service opportunities, and career preparation sessions in public speaking and presentation.

Interviews and application review will be on Monday March 2, 2015 at the Admiral Congregational Church 4320 SW Hill Street between 3:00 and 6:30 with the candidates introduced at the West Seattle Hi-Yu meeting at 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

Please pass on the information to students you know who would qualify for the scholarships.

Applicants must be in their senior year of high school or not have reached their 23rd birthday by February 1st.  Applicants can never have been married and must be single (not engaged) at the time of coronation.  They must be attending high school or a high school graduate, attending school, working in, or a resident of West Seattle.  The West Seattle area includes the Alki Peninsula to the Burien City limits.  This is a varied border, within the following zip codes: 98106, 98116, 98126, 98136, and 98146.  They must be planning to or currently attending college, technical school or vocational school.
