Message from the Acting Principal
Kia ora e te whānau…
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the year! I hope your Christmas preparations are going well and I wish you and your family a warm, relaxing and safe holiday time.
Please read the notices below carefully and note the important final dates of the year.
Staff are looking forward to the Year 8 Graduation on Tuesday evening, starting at 6.30pm. This is a wonderful time to reflect on individual learning journeys and celebrate the achievements for each student. It is also a time to say goodbye as we wish them well for their secondary school years. This morning I had the privilege of attending the Waitaki Girls High School Junior Prize Giving, and it was wonderful to see so many ex Weston students receiving prizes for excellence. Our staff take great pride in the achievements of both past and present Weston School students, knowing that our school has given them a good foundation for secondary education.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Board of Trustees, Lyndal Godsall,
Wendy McCoy, Stefan Mavor and our Board Chair Ivan Docherty. They have given a lot of time and energy into the role of governing our school and we appreciate their efforts.
A reminder that reports will go home on Wednesday the 16th of December. This is also the day for our final Assembly at 9:45am and a little surprise visit from a white bearded man in a new red suit. You are welcome to take your child/ren with you at this time as teachers will be classroom cleanup mode.
IF YOUR CHILD/REN ARE ATTENDING ON THE MORNING OF THURSDAY THE 17TH OF DECEMBER FOR CLEANUP PLEASE ADVISE THE SCHOOL OFFICE 434 5445 DUE TO THE NUMBER OF EXPECTED ABSENCES.
Thank you all for your support of Weston School in 2015. Have a very happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday 1st February.

Students from Tui, Korora and Tuatara classes were lucky to have a trip to Burnside where they experienced different aspects of everyday life in olden day times. Students and teachers also dressed for occasion.
A group of Weston School students performed at a very moving Citizenship Ceremony held on Monday. They represented the School beautifully.

Rummage around in your drawers and toy boxes and bring into School any unwanted mobile phones you may have at home. It is estimated that each year up to three million phones become obsolete in NZ, of those only 2% are recycled. Phones collected help our School gain valuable rewards and the environment benefits as well keeping our landfills free of mobile phones and their array of hazardous toxic substances.
Please drop any unwanted mobile phones you may have in the collection box in the reception area at School.
