Talofa lava, Kia orana, Taloha ni, Ni sa bula vinaka, Fakaalofa lahi atu, Talofa, Malo e lelei, Tena koutou, Tena koutou, Tena koutou katoa, hello and welcome to our fortnightly news blog…

Message from the Acting Principal

Kia ora e te whānau…

Children and teachers have been making the most out of the fine weather! Lots of outside learning in the school’s vegetable garden, the skink garden and the senior children have been carrying out some grass investigations down by the Weston Playcentre.

We were privileged to have a visit from another science fellow, Mrs Karen Parker from Arthur Street School. She met with teachers and children to discuss the science programmes running at our school and to share her own journey into science. We are fortunate to have the expertise of science fellows in our school, including Gary Paterson, Jenny Kitchin and Maureen Keen.

A trip to Burnside for Tuatara, Korora and Tui classes was a highlight today.Fantastic to see children and teachers dressed up in their Victorian finery! Thank you to the families who brought along ponies so the children could have a ride! Lots of meaningful, hands on learning experiences which will be well remembered.

Thanks to Donna Carter for selling some remaining chocolate from our fundraiser earlier in the year at the car boot sale as well as organising at book sale in our library today. If you missed out today, please come along next Friday at 12.45pm or send some coins along with your child. All books cost $1. Thank you Donna!!

Teachers have been hard at work, doing assessments and writing end of year reports. These will come home with children on the last Wednesday of the term, 16th December. That is also the day for our final assembly at 9.45am and a little surprise visit from a white bearded man in a new red suit.

Enjoy the Santa Parade on Saturday and look out for our Christmas tree in the office. It will be beautifully decorated from the 1st December.

Nga mihi

It’s that time again to rummage around in your drawers and toy boxes and bring into School /Kindergarten/Creche/Playcentre any unwanted mobile phones you may have at home.

It is estimated that each year up to three million phones become obsolete in NZ, of those only 2% are recycled.

Phones collected help our School/Kindergarten/Creche/Playcentre gain valuable rewards and the environment benefits as well keeping our landfills free of mobile phones and their array of hazardous toxic substances.

Please drop any unwanted mobile phones you may have in the collection box in the reception area at School /Kindergarten/Creche/Playcentre.
