Otago Primary Schools World Cup Festival Day

Otago Primary Schools World Cup Festival Day

Our Weston Cricket Team won the Otago-Southland Mini World Cup Cricket Tournament in Dunedin.  The tournament was made up of school teams each representing the sub associations in Otago and Southland.  Originally to be played on the University Oval we were weather forced indoors to the Edgar Centre.

After a hectic first two games adjusting to indoor rules Weston overcame South Otago and Eastern Southland teams.  Weston eventually settled into playing tight fielding and bowling, restricting successive teams scoring.

Weston made the final and won by 40 runs against George Street Normal School.

Each school was given a bowling machine for their school for attending the day and each participant received an ICC Cricket World Cup bag, Magazine, Trophy, Drink bottle and Cap.

Thanks to Gary Paterson, Ben Cant and Stefan Mavor for helping to organise the team and to the parents for driving children to Dunedin and assisting on the day.
