We had a special ANZAC assembly at the Weston Church.  To me this is always a heartwarming experience. It is made special as well by sharing links with other schools as Head Boy of Waitaki Boys’ High School piped us into Weston Church and also played the Piper’s Lament at the end of our service. The Year 8’s did a stunning job with their historical review and poems to add to the ceremony. Thanks to the Weston Church and Rev. Nancy Parker as well as a school and church support team of dozens!

We also had our first Field of Remembrance Ceremony to celebrate 100 years which was also special and I hope habit forming.

It was great to see our Year 8’s ushering and handing out programmes for both the Dawn Service and at the Garden Of Memories. It was extremely special to hear Andrew Sinclair recite the Ode at the 11.00 am service and while John Longman worried that this might offend I believe it is a special way to share in both the past and the future with our children. They will be the caretakers of what is to come, making this very important to have both understanding and involvement.
