53 Weston children sang their hearts out on Wednesday night at the North Otago Music Festival. Their performance was exceptional; they looked amazing in their uniforms, behaved admirably and their singing filled the Opera House. A special thank you must go to Jo Mortimer for helping with the choir and making the singing in two parts possible and successful. Thank you parents and caregivers for supporting this event, getting the children to the venue promptly and ensuring that they wore their Weston colours with pride. We can all be very proud of our children.
I found this quote recently and think it sums things up. "Participating in musical groups promotes friendships with like-minded people; self-confidence; social skills; social networking; a sense of belonging; team work; self-discipline; a sense of accomplishment; co-operation; responsibility; commitment; mutual support; bonding to meet group goals; increased concentration and provides an outlet for relaxation."

Weston School had a dazzling performance in the North Otago Choral Festival on Wednesday night. Congratulations to Mrs Ruddenklau and Mrs Mortimer for their hard work and organisation. Thank you also for the back stage support from Mr Paterson and Miss Lacek. The children involved stood out from the crowd and were fantastic representatives for our school. Thank you for the parental support - I’m sure you were very proud of your child’s involvement.
We have received some wonderful comments from our
school community about the Choral festival:
Can you please pass on to Mrs Ruddenklau and Mrs Mortimer a huge congratulations and thanks from the Mavor family. We thought Weston school were FANTASTIC!!!! It was obvious a lot of effort and attention to detail had been made. - Kim and Mike Mavor
We enjoyed the Choir last night. They did really well. - Lois Miles
The Weston kids were great, well done to all those that did the hard yards! - David Hunter
Just wondering whether you could convey to the teacher who looks after the school choir that my husband and I were very impressed with last evening's performance. All the schools sung well but Weston School should be very proud because not only were they dressed beautifully but what a stand out individual performance. We could clearly see that the teachers and the children had worked extremely hard to complete a very polished performance. Kind regards. - Debbie and David Sinclair
