What I am!

Welcome back to term two. I hope that you all had happy holidays and an enjoyable time with your families?

Today is Pink Shirt Day in  NZ. This isn't just for those who like to wear pink. It is actually an Anti-Bullying Day so it was appropriate to start our first assembly of the term with an anti-bullying message.

In our assembly we discussed what bullying looks like as well as what it doesn't look like. We talked about the bullying cycle and how usually it involves a person who is getting bullied, a person who is doing the bullying and one other...a person who knows but doesn't do anything about it.

Therefore we took the stance that bullying is actually bad for everyone involved, yes, even including the person doing the bullying. We committed ourselves as a school to three key rules for Weston:

  1. We will not bully others.
  2. We will help kids who are bullied.
  3. We will include kids who are left out.
We also watched a great video from Will.I. Am with the Sesame Street Crew as back up. I have also added the words so your child can sing along and focus on being strong and special.

Words for What I am!
