Colorado STEM Academy- Mrs. Marantino Level 3

Welcome to Mrs. Marantino’s Level 3 class at Colorado STEM Academy!  I am so excited to have the opportunity to be your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year!

All about our classroom:

Classroom Responsibilities:

All expectations of the students in my classroom help teach and model responsibility; a necessary skill for a successful future.

Classroom Job:  We have classroom jobs that rotate and ensure that our classroom runs smoothly and everyone does their part.

Thursday Folders: Each Thursday you can expect a folder containing completed school work from the week and other school information. Please take the time to look over this information with your child.

Tardies/Absenteeism:  Learning is fluid and requires regular attendance.  Please try to schedule vacations, trips, and appointments during non-school hours.  It is extremely important that your student be on time each day.

Birthdays: Students are welcome to bring in treats to celebrate their birthday. We encourage bringing in a healthy snack or checking out one of our birthday kits as an alternative to sweet treats. Another option would be to plan a fun science experiment to do with the class. If your child is planning a party outside of school, please do NOT bring invitations to school unless everyone in the class is invited.  We don’t want any students to feel left out, so please respect the whole class with this request.

Food and Water: Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school. Only bottles that are spill proof will be allowed in the classroom (screw on caps are okay). The student’s name must be written clearly on the bottle. They will be allowed on student desks at all times during the day. We will have a snack break each day. Please send your child with a healthy snack every day. Only healthy snacks will be allowed during this time.  Unhealthy snacks are discouraged, as we are focusing on your child’s health and wellness.

Field Trips: I would like to schedule some field trips throughout the year. In order to make them successful, I will need parent volunteers to chaperone and help with fundraising for the transportation costs. I will notify you of any field trips well in advance. If you are interested in being a parent chaperone, a background check is required. Please see the office as soon as you can so that you are ready to be a chaperone when the time comes!

Visiting School:  If you plan to come to school during school hours for any reason, it is school policy to check in at the office first. It’s extremely important for the safety of our school and students.

Communication: As a final note, I would like to stress the importance of open communication. I will do everything possible to keep you informed of your child’s progress and provide any necessary feedback. I am very efficient with email, and will respond within 24 hours after receiving your email. If it is the weekend, please give me until Monday to respond.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of playing such an important and meaningful role in your child’s life!

Sincerely,

Stephenie Marantino
