1774 Westborough Militia Training Day

SAVE THE DATE!

Date & Time: October 14, 2017, 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Location: Veteran’s Freedom Park,

169A West Main Street, Westborough, MA

The Westborough Rotary Club and the Westborough Historical Society present a re-creation of the 243rd anniversary of the Westborough militia’s 1774 march to Worcester to seize the county courts from British control.

Reenactors portraying the Westborough militia will perform the Manual of Arms as they practice the art of military exercise from 1774. Musket firing demonstrations will be performed throughout the day; a colonial market day will be set up to show a variety of colonial trades and crafts; and Westborough's own Rev. Ebenezer Parkman will harangue and inform the crowds. Other reenactors portraying fellow citizens of Westborough will be making items for barter or sale to the assembled militiamen.

Come experience an historic re-creation of Westborough in 1774 based on original town records that document a turning point in American history and the actions of Westborough citizens as they proclaim their desire to separate from British rule. This event promises to be entertaining and educational for the entire family. Please join us!

Westborough Spring Festival - A Family Fun Day

We had a fantastic Spring Festival this year! Thank you to our vendors, sponsors, and performers, MassWildlife, Westborough Police and Fire Departments, Department of Public Works, the Westborough 300th Anniversary Committee, and the army of volunteers who helped make June 10th an unforgettable event.

ALL NEW this year ... the event was held on the beautiful grounds of the former Westborough State Hospital, on the shores of Lake Chauncy, on June 10.

The celebration featured a music festival, vendor fair, 5K race, classic car show, old fashioned games, carriage rides, pet events, and more. There was an open house at MassWildlife and fishing lessons, too. The day ended with a spectacular fireworks show over the lake!
