  • Currently in Music January and February are fun months in music. In January, we get to learn spirituals, freedom songs and songs about Kwanzaa and Martin Luther King.  We move on to Groundhogs day, Valentine's Day & Presidents Day (singing patriotic and songs about our country). As we sing songs and do activities that relate to these special days, the kids learn about musical concepts and get to play various instruments and perform dances that go along with these days. The kids are getting more confident in their singing and performing abilities.  There are wonderful music websites to let your child learn more about music at home. Look under my student resources page.

  • Concerts & Field Trips  In December, the 1st graders and MAPS K-3rd graders performed an incredible holiday concert at Sahuaro.  Our 2nd graders, MAPS and strings students get to experience an awesome trip to see our wonderful Phoenix Symphony perform.  They will be attending the concert on February 18th, 2015.  We leave at 8:45 and return at 12:30. If they do not want a school sack lunch, then they need to bring their own for the picnic lunch that we will be having.  In December, several 6th graders tried out for our district honor choir. Congratulations to the ones who made it. They will be performing at our school in a day assembly in March and for their parents later in ...

  • Welcome back! The first day of school was Monday, August 11th.  We have already been making wonderful music with your child(ren) and are having a great time in music this year. In August, the 3rd-6th graders made beautiful music journals that they will take notes in during music class and be able to store important papers, practice sheets and tests in throughout the year.
