Things to Remember

  • Here are some at a glance reminders for you to remember!
-The winter celebration is coming up on December 22nd!  The AM party will begin at 10:15, PM will begin at 1:15.
-Please send in large baby food jars if you can!  I can also use small mason jars if we can't gather enough baby food jars... I only need 7 more!
-Winter break begins December 23rd - Have a happy holiday!
  • Happy December Jellyfish Families!!!

I simply cannot believe that half of our year is over already!  Time flies when you are having fun!  J  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.  I am very thankful to have such an amazing group of little ones this year.  Thank you for sharing them with me every day!

We are starting this month with an “academic week”.  I have put these kinds of weeks into my plans about every month where we don’t necessarily have a theme and I go heavy on academic tasks and projects.  I do implement math and literacy into their small groups every week in addition to a whole group activity per day focusing on colors, shapes, numbers/counting and letters.  But I feel that it is important to really go heavy on these concepts from time to time.  After our academic week we have a theme of snowmen and then two weeks of gingerbread.

Our Winter Celebration is on Thursday, December 22nd, which is also the last day of school before winter break.  I will send out another SignUp Genius as the time gets closer.  In the meantime, I will need glass baby food jars for one of our activities.  If you have any or know of someone who does, please start collecting them!  I need one per child (28).  (Preferably the larger size baby food jar.)

We return from winter break on January 9th and we will start off 2017 with a theme around the book Mouse Paint.

Thank you to the families that sent in photos of your children for our All About Me unit.  If you did not, you can send in or email pictures any time!  The kids LOVED seeing their faces on the Smart Board!  If you travel or have any fun experiences that you catch on camera feel free to send in those pictures to have your child share with the class.  J We got a LOT of language out of them and all of the children enjoyed seeing the pictures that their classmates brought.

Heads Up!  After we get back from break we are starting our “transition season” where we are getting all of our afternoon preschoolers ready for kindergarten.  This will involve meetings, testing (for some), school & classroom visits and new IEP’s and MET’s.  We will also have an IEP meeting for every child that started in August before the end of the year.  If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to call or email me any time.  Needless to say it’s going to be a VERY busy time of year and it will be May before we know it!
