"Invention Convention"

Cartoon Inventor

Dear Parents & Families,

It’s time to help your kiddos get ready for the amazing; the wonderful; the fun and exciting “Invention Convention” to be held at Sunburst on Friday, April 22nd.

Every year, each grade level produces a project to show parents, friends, and family members. You might remember Flat Stanley or the Solar System projects. Fourth graders create the Invention Convention with all sorts of highly creative and imaginative ideas for inventions. We do inspiration and preparation at school, but the actual project is to be completed at home.

The only restrictions are for safety reasons and students may not create a robot that does their homework or their chores. Some ideas might include labor-saving devices, new toys, pet care or clothing.

Students may use drawings, computer-generated pictures, paper, pen, crayons, paint or markers to decorate their display board. Students may use tag board, commercial display boards (available at Wal-Mart, Staples or Target) or 3 sides of a cardboard box. The goals are to be creative and neat. The amount of money you spend should be very small; try to use items found around the house or garage.

Projects are due at school on Monday, April 18th. Please return the Intent to Invent to me, including your and your child’s signature. If you need another copy, I have attached it in Word for your convenience.

Good luck and have fun!
