What is the Challenge Program?

The Weld Re – 1 Challenge Program meets the state requirements for the Gifted and Talented program. The program is available to all students. The Challenge program will attend to the academic, social, and emotional needs of those students who demonstrate the ability or possess the capability to markedly excel and therefore require services beyond regular classroom instruction.

What does that mean?

Students who have been identified as meeting the program criteria will then work with a Challenge program teacher to create an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) to best meet their needs. This plan may involve differentiation of curriculum within the classroom, small group work, independent study, advanced courses, and/or mentorship.
