Ms. Krieg's Creation Station
Welcome and Hello! My name is Megan Krieg and I am the Art teacher for Theodore Roosevelt School! I am a New Jersey native, born and raised in Monmouth County. I went to Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and graduated with a BA in Fine Arts. Art has always been my passion, and I have experimented with various mediums in all genres of art. After moving back to New Jersey from South Carolina, I taught Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science to seventh and eighth grades in Elizabeth, NJ. After five years in Elizabeth, I began teaching Language Arts and Social Studies in a private school in Jersey City. At the school in Jersey City, I had the opportunity to continue to evolve and began teaching Art. During my years in Elizabeth and Jersey City, I went back to school and got my certifications in Elementary Education, Art (K-12), and a Masters in Special Education in Applied Behavior Analysis. Art is where my passions and heart lie, and I am so excited to bring my experiences to TRS. I can't wait for the students and I to embark on new experiences together!
Curriculum Overview: I have been teaching art for three years at TRS, and I am looking forward to another great year! When I meet with the students once a week, we will be analyzing the many faces of art. We will look at the artists, art history, movements, processes, techniques, and discuss what the students’ see. The students will then design, create, and produce art relating to what unit we are discovering. I incorporate lessons and units that expose the students to the many genres of art and the artists that were involved. From there, the students explore their imagination and build their own ideas. The students will then have the opportunity to choose a piece that they are most proud of for the art show! I hope parents and guardians can make it! I am looking forward to a positive, productive, and wonderful year!
