    Advocacy Day 2013

    MacMurray College Social Work
students and faculty, in celebration of National Social Work Month, visited the state capitol in Springfield, Illinois as part of their Social Policy class with Professor Squillace. Students brought Fact Sheets they made to share with legislators and educate them about issues of concern, such as funding for neonatal care in rural areas, extended home care for seniors, support for pregnant teens, and funding for alternative schools. Many thanks to Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer and Senator Sam McCann for spending time with the Mac students. The students also visited Senator Richard Durbin's office, where one Mac student discussed prevention efforts for premature births with the Congressman's welcoming staff. Congratulations, students, on a successful day of advocacy!
