Celebration of Learning
~ Take a scroll down memory lane ~
"Not to us, Oh Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." Psalm 115:1
Investigating 3D Shapes - "Will it roll? Slide? Stack?"
Spring Acrostic Poems
Through reading David and Jonathan's story, our Grade 1's saw that true friendship is a gift from God. We were inspired by 1 Samuel 18:1 ("Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan became knit with the soul of David; and Jonathan loved him like his own soul.") Each Grade 1 received a strand of yarn that they traded with every student in the class, tying a knot in each other's strand. As they tied the knot, they would express their appreciation for each other.
Our Grade 1's LOVE creating surveys and graphs!
On Classroom Camp Day, Grade 1's practiced counting coins and bills as they "bought" or "rented" items like fishing poles, finger-lights, lanterns, and a snack to enjoy throughout the day. Our happy campers also discussed various solutions to energy loss we might experience while camping (eg. using a fire instead of a stove to cook food).
Pysanka Eggs and Spring Bird Watercolours!
On Career Day, we took a closer look at community helpers!
Investigating Playground Materials and Structures!
Some wonderful words from the Grade 1's "thoughts" and "wonders" discussion:
FRAME, SUPPORTING, STABLE, TEXTURE, MAN-MADE.
Swings, monkey bars, ziplines, slides- waterslides! Our Grade 1's creativity and perseverance really shone as they experimented building their own playground structures!
Day in the Life :)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." PROVERBS 3:5-6
We are so thankful for the Lord's faithful care and so very excited
for what He has planned for the rest of our school year!
