I have attached folders based on the unit that is studied. Please utilize the folders for additional copies of work, if your child needs them. You can find the folder at the bottom of this page. We have completed unit 5 and are just moving into unit #6 when we start remote learning.

Parents: please make sure students are working on Dreambox outside of school. If they have access to the internet, they can access their account (school log in/password).

We hope that you and your family are doing well during this time of uncertainty. Teachers will be reaching out, over the next week, to check on all of our first period students and their families. If your email or phone number has changed since the beginning of the year, please send me an email: gboettcher@wcpss.net. You can also call my Google Voice App and leave me a message. The number is 919-792-8848. If you are leaving me a message, please tell me your child's name.

Thank you to everyone who has logged in during our virtual time. It has been wonderful to see everyone!! Please make sure you have joined your teacher's Google Classroom and read through the link that was posted on ZMS website. All of your assignments, your schedule and your teacher's Google Classroom codes are listed through that website.

If you have not registered, please do so ASAP!!! Your electives were due on April 10.

If you have technology questions, here is a link that might be helpful.

Learning at Home

Registration:

Students were not able to register for classes for next year so please check the ZMS website so that you and your child can register for classes. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Chambers-Banks. Her email is: cchambers-banks@wcpss.net

Google Classroom:

Starting Thursday, March 26, please log on to your Wake ID and go to Google Classroom. You will need to sign up for your class. The class codes for each class period are sent to a parent's email. If you did not receive it, please contact me.

From March 26-April 3, you may use any of the websites or information listed below, as well as what is in the unit folders ( 1-5). These items are all optional. By the middle of next week, I will hold my first Google Chat so please make sure you join Google Classroom so you know when we will get together as a class. This will be a check in so we can say hi to everyone as well as a trial run for online learning. You will get to enjoy your spring break from April 6th-April 10th and then we will go live with remote learning starting April 13! Please be patient with your teachers, we are learning too. Keep a positive mindset and remember that you are a part of something historical; this has NEVER been done before. So let's strap on our seatbelts, get excited for the adventures ahead and enjoy this virtual roller coaster ride together!

With that said, there are some noteworthy items that I wanted you to know as well as some academic information listed below:

1. Food:

Wake County is offering food to families at various locations. Here is a link to the county site:

Food Distribution Centers

2. Work:

I am in the process of updating grades so please check your child's grades later this week to see what they still owe from third quarter (they can access Power School via their Wake ID). Any assignment with a zero is one that was due prior to the week of March 9. All of my assignments (with photos) are listed in either the unit 4 or unit 5 folder (see below). You can have your child look for their original assignment (great time to clean out their binders/bookbags), print the worksheets or have your child simply use a sheet of paper. They would title the piece of paper and then show their work. No need to copy down worded questions. For those who had questions about the project, I have notes posted in the notes folder from when we reviewed the assignment in class but will include a step by step guide in the unit 5 folder later this week. Assignments up until March 6 are all counted toward your child's third quarter grade. The only assignment not included on my website is the Benchmark. If your child finds and completes the assignment, feel free to turn it in to me (see below). Otherwise, we will discuss options at a later date.

If your child did not turn in an assignment from March 9-13, it is exempt for now (unless you choose to have your child complete their work, which is optional). I am in the process of updating those grades (weekly check using World Without Fish and the Unit 4/5 test). If students did not finish the test and/or need to do corrections, you will see those notes under the comments section. If your child was absent, the grade will be exempt until further notice. We will work out details as to how to do corrections and/or complete the assignment(s) in the future.

Parents-any assignments that you want your child to submit can be:

1. Emailed directly to me. To do this, take a screen shot and email it to gboettcher@wcpss.net. This can be sent from a parent's email or from a student's Wake County email.

2. Parents only: if you have an Iphone, you can also scan documents, which use less bandwidth than photos. To do this, click on the notes App. At the bottom you'll see a camera, which then allows you to scan. Once the work is captured to your liking, hit save. In the top right corner you'll see a box with an arrow. That allows you to upload to an email or if you have the Google Drive App, you can send it straight to your drive and then share it with me.

3. Sent via text to the phone number listed above. Take a screen shot and send as a picture.

**Please make sure your child writes his/her name on the paper that you are submitting. Again, at this time, these are optional suggestions.

3. Online Access:

All students can go to Zebulon Middle School ( Zebulon's website ) and access their Wake id Portal (scroll down the page of the website and it will be in the middle of your screen). Your child can check their grades, access email and use Dreambox (see link for parent access). I am also attaching a link that the county has provided for online resources. Right click on the words below and it will take you directly to the list.

Wake County Provided Resource:

Access to online resources for all subject areas

Zebulon Middle School Provided Resource:

Quick video to help with online resources/learning

Dreambox:

Dreambox Parent Portal Set Up (scroll down to Parent Set up and start with direction #3).

4. Math Curriculum: Open Up Resources:

In addition to the online resources that the county provided, here are direct links to the parent and student access points for Open Up. Your child has his/her books at home (hopefully) and can utilize the practice problems, summaries and vocabulary to help them practice while they are at home. All but period 2 students received the Unit 6 workbook on the Friday before we left. However, with online access you can get the entire workbook (all units), at any time. I have also listed resources under my units tabs (6, 7 and 8), for future learning. These will be updated over time, so in the meantime, please use this time to fully navigate Units 1-5. I will add videos and additional resources as I find them, and attach them to the unit folders.

Here are the direct links to the online curriculum:

Family resources for Open UP

Student Resources for Open Up

***If you child completes practice problems for previously assigned units/lessons, and you want to check his/her answers, please contact me. I will be happy to help them check their work. If your child is having trouble with a particular unit, check the units folder at the bottom of this page and see if there is a video for that particular skill.

5. Moby Max:

If you want your child to have access to an additional online math program, I have a subscription to Moby Max. I use this for multiplication and division facts (fact fluency) as well as specific math skills. In the next few days, all of my math students will have an account but it is NOT required, only as an additional resource. If you are interested in having your child use this program, please contact me via email or phone (listed above). Please remember, this is IN ADDITION to Dreambox and COMPLETELY OPTIONAL.

6. Other OPTIONAL IDEAS:

This is a folder that contains video links and websites. If you find a great website that you think others might like, please email me. I will look into it and possibly add it to my folder.
