Expectations

Always follow lab safety protocols, 7th grade policies, and use your STING in the science classroom

Stay Safe

Take Responsibility

Insist on Excellence

Navigate Wisely

Give Respect

Important:  A parent or guardian must complete this form with their child before the student will be permitted to participate in science labs and activities.

Curriculum

Our curriculum will be based on Wake County guidelines and the NC Essential Standards.  Units include "think like a scientist", "atmosphere and weather", "life science", and "force and motion". Life science is our largest unit and includes characteristics of life, cells, unicellular organism, body systems, and genetics.

Make Up Work

If you miss class, it is your responsibility to view Canvas  for missed work in science. We follow the Wake County policies for making up work after an absence.

Late Work and Recovery

Mrs. Jesrani follows the Holly Ridge Middle School policies on late work and recovery.  Any late work turned in three days prior to the interim or end of quarter will be accepted minus 10 points if it is 5 days late and 10 points if it is10 days late. Late work will not be accepted past this point.

Academic Achievement

"Academic Achievement" assessments reflect what you know and understand. There are two "Academic Achievement" categories; assessments (quizzes and tests at 60%) and projects (at 30%). All 7th graders have the same "Academic Achievement" assignments no matter what team they are on.

Having a score below a 70% on an academic achievement activity means that you do not understand the material at the expected proficiency level "yet" and should keep trying. Students may improve grades by completing a "Retake Request Form." After completing the form to the teacher's level of satisfaction, you will be given a retake assessment or project.  All students are capable of achieving with hard work and perseverance. Never give up and keep trying!

Academic Skills

"Academic Skills" assignments make up the remaining 10% of your grade.  "Academic Skills" include warm-ups, notes, and any tasks you complete that help you learn or develop a growth mindset.  "Academic Skills" assignments do not usually qualify for retakes and may vary between 7th-grade science teachers.
