Monday - Veteran's Day ~ No School

  • The Boys Basketball Team is looking for some reliable students to serve as managers, scorekeepers, and video camera operators during the upcoming season. If interested, please see Coach Cunningham in room 8101.
  • There will be a SkillsUSA meeting today from 2:30 to 3:30pm in the Auditorium. This will also be the deadline to sign up for SkillsUSA competitions this school year. If you have any questions please see Mr. Maldonado, Mrs. Councill, Mr. Petty, Mr. Greene, or Mr. Schettig
  • Please join MCHS athletics on November 15 in the MCHS media center at 2:30 for our Fall Signing Day - we currently have 4 seniors who plan to sign their National Letter of Intent to play college athletics on this day! Come celebrate this event with these great Student-Athletes.
  • The National Achievers' Society (NAS) will hold a meeting for new and old members on Tuesday, November 13th at 2:30 in the Media Center. All members should plan to attend. Please see Mrs. McCaskill or Leila Coe with questions or concerns.

    This “adult” dark comedy/drama addresses teenage angst, love, LGBT, and death.
    And sword fights.
    And dragons.
    Rated PG-13, the show begins at 6:30 and will run until 7:45 on Thursday the 15th, Friday the 16th, and Saturday the 17th. Tickets are $7 for students and can be purchased during lunch starting Wednesday! 
  • Do you love writing, art, music, or filming? Do you want to join a club, but don't have time? Join Middle Creek's first online club: The Storytelling Workshop. It's interest meeting is next Tuesday, November 13 from 230 to 3 in room 310. See Valerie Oh-mock-hu-ah for more information or just stop by 310.
  • An admissions representative from Meredith College will be here during all lunches on Friday, November 16th. Please stop by the table for information.
  • Do have interest in journalism? Please attend the Quill and Scroll meeting in room 314 on Tuesday, November 13 to find out more about this journalism honor society.
  • Attention Middle Creek Staff and Students: Key Club is conducting their annual Turkey Teacher Food Drive. Teachers who have been nominated have a container with their name in the Commons. If you want to see your teacher dress as a turkey for the whole school day on Monday, 11/19, bring non-perishable food items and put them in their box. The teacher receiving the most donations in their honor will "win" the contest. All donations will benefit the Food Bank of Eastern NC.
  • Are you a interested in gaining experience in high-quality research work over the summer break? If so, Duke’s Star Program is now accepting applications for this opportunity. For more information, please check out the posting on the school’s website under Academic Enrichment Opportunities or ask in Student Services.
  • Drama Club will be on Wednesday the 14th. We will be discussing what you can expect at and how to prepare for Musical Auditions in December. Drama club will run from 2:30 to 3:30, please make sure you have a ride to pick you up!
  • The MCHS Athletic Department and Gymnastics team is proud to announce that Kayley Brady is your NC small team Bars State Champion!!! She also finished 4th in the state in all around gymnastics. Congratulations to Kayley, she is a leading galloping Mustang
  • Attention 10th grade students, the Pre-ACT will be administered to ALL 10th graders tomorrow. Please make sure you plan ahead! 10th graders will miss 1st and 2nd block and possibly some of 3rd. Be on the lookout for details from your 1st block teachers!

  • Attention Sophomores: The Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) is designed to empower high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, and community. Middle Creek may send one sophomore to attend this exciting opportunity. Applications are available in Student Services and on the MCHS website and must be returned to Mrs. Gillespie by November 9. Please visit www.hoby.org to find out further information.
  • The Middle Creek Technology Club will be meeting in Mr. Greene's classroom, 2112 after school on Tuesday, November 6th. If you have an interest in discovering or discussing new technologies, please join us.
  • Admissions representatives from Appalachian State, ECU, the University of Alabama, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, and the University of South Carolina, and Saint Andrews will be here during all lunches on November 7th.
  •  Seniors - it's that time of year again when college acceptance letters and scholarships start being received. Please bring a copy of your scholarship letters to Student Services. Scholarships are academic, athletic, military, and from any group giving you money for college. It doesn't matter if you accept or decline the scholarship. Last years' senior class raised more than 9 Million in scholarship dollars. We think you can beat that number. Remember - turn in your letters.

Spots will be sold from 7:00am - 7:25am then 2:18pm-2:45pm if any spots are still available. Please make sure you have all notorized documents and a Valid NC Drivers License. Document can be found on MCHS website. Checks made payable to MCHS for $140.00. See Mrs. Costa in the front office for any questions.

  • The Health Occupation Students of America club heralded some winners at the North Carolina Regional Competition on November 2nd. The following students placed in the top 5 in their category and will advance to the State Competition in March. Aarav Mehta, Jenna Barnes, Halle Kahlenburg, Elise Ray, Ashleigh Buser and Rose Delgado. This is the first year that Middle Creek has been able to compete. Congratulations HOSA members!

  • Do you love to dance and want to show off your skills? The auditions for the 2018 Dance Showcase will be held tomorrow afterschool in the theatre. All students and styles of dance are eligible to audition from contemporary to hip hop, salsa to musical theatre! Please fill out an audition form and sign up for a time slot outside of the theatre.   • Jostens will be on campus for Make-Up Day on Thursday, November 1 in the front lobby during lunches to take class ring and cap & gown orders. A $60 deposit is required.
  • Splash UNC is a unique educational enrichment opportunity at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Splash UNC is a bi-annual program where high school students have the opportunity to attend classes taught and created by Carolina students. Classes include a variety of interesting topics ranging from chemistry and swing dancing to neuroscience and Harry Potter.The classes we are offering this semester aim to help high school students explore their current interests and discover new passions.
    Splash UNC is hosting its fall program for high school students on Saturday, November 10th from 9am to 5pm. The program fee is $20 and lunch is included. Financial Aid is available. Student registration closes on November 3rd, so don't delay! To learn more and register, visit splashunc.com/

  • Attention Seniors! The sign up sheet is posted for Tux and Drape photos at MCHS on November 1 - appointments are listed and are first come, first served! Do not miss this chance to have your photo taken and be in the MCHS yearbook and on the Senior Wall!
  • Ticket to Play for Winter Sports dates are as follows - Swim and Dive on Oct 23, Indoor Track on Oct 24, and basketball on Oct 25 - All during lunches! No ticket, No play!
  • All those wanting to wrestle during the 2018-2019 season, be sure you have spoken to Coach Allen. For all those wanting to participate in wrestling, body fat and hydration will take place, after school today. This is mandatory. Start drinking plenty of water now! Reminder: First official practice is Wednesday, October 31.
  • From the appliances in your home to the cell phones in your pocket, circuits are found in every electronic device used. . Many of these circuits utilize microcontrollers in addition to sensors and output devices. Come to Room 305 today to find out the basics of circuits, microcontrollers and the programming behind them. We will use Arduino Microcontrollers to explore how many technologies function.

  • Please join us next Thursday night October 18th at 6:30 in the Auditorium for our College Night Panel to hear about the College Admissions process. Representatives from Appalachian, UNC Greensboro, UNC Asheville, Campbell, and Wake Tech will be here to answer your questions about applying to college. This evening is for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders as it is never too early to start thinking about college admissions requirements. We hope to see you there!
  • Attention Seniors: October 15-19 is CFNC College Application Week. Many in-state schools are free to apply to during this week, including North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T, Winston Salem State, UNC Pembroke, Fayetteville State, and Elizabeth City State University. Counselors will be in the media center all day on Tuesday to help students with the college application process. Make sure to sign up using the QR code found around the school or on the MCHS Website.
  • The interest meeting for Indoor Track and Field has been changed to Wednesday, October 17th, at 2:25 in the Commons. If you are interested in being on the team, please attend this brief meeting. If you are unable to attend, please see Coach Woynicz or Fisher.
  • Lifetime Sports I with Coach P will be bowling today (Monday) and Tuesday this week. Please do not miss the bus.

  • Tonight is the game originally scheduled for Friday vs Apex Friendship. We know it is a Monday, but we need the Creek Crazies out to support, wearing the colors originally planned. Seniors wear black, Juniors red, and Sophomores and Freshman white.
  • Club pictures for the yearbook are Wednesday. Creek Crazies our picture will be at 2:05. If you are a member, you need to see Coach Harden at some point to get your pass. You will not be able to enter without it. It is your responsibility to get it. If you want to stop by right after school today you can.
  • Any boys interested in playing tennis this spring need to attend an interest this Thursday at 7:00 in Coach Arthur's room - 8105.

  • Disney Club interest meeting will now be this Friday after school in the Media Center.
  • Seniors- Are you creative and interested in designing the Middle Creek High School Senior Class T-shirt? A t-shirt design contest is open now until Tuesday- October 23. If you create a design, email it in pdf or jpg format to Mrs. Titus by next Tuesday at 2:30. The senior class will vote on the final design next week.

  • Do you love to dance and want to show off your skills? The auditions for the 2018 Dance Showcase will be held Oct 30th afterschool in the theatre. All students and styles of dance are eligible to audition from contemporary to hip hop, salsa to musical theatre! Please fill out an audition form and sign up for a time slot outside of the theatre.   • Attention Sophomores: The Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) is designed to empower high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, and community. Middle Creek may send one sophomore to attend this exciting opportunity. Applications are available in Student Services and on the MCHS website and must be returned to Mrs. Gillespie by November 9.   • An admissions representative from Brown University will be in the Media Center beginning at 2:20 on October 9th.
  • There will be an Indoor Track and Field Interest meeting on October 11th at 2:25 in the Commons. If you are interested in joining track and field, please attend this brief meeting. If you cannot attend, please see Coach Fisher or Woynicz.

  • Interested in technology? Want to discuss or learn more about computers? Join Middle Creek's new student-run Technology Club. The first interest meeting will be held in Mr. Greene's classroom, 2112, from 2:30 to 3:30, on Wednesday October 10th.

  • Applications are now being accepted for Youth Leadership Cary candidates. Youth Leadership Cary is an exciting program that began in 1998 at the Cary Chamber of Commerce. Designed to focus on developing the potential of future leaders, the program covers a wide variety of topics that will help participants understand critical parts of how businesses, communities and individual leaders work together.   • An admissions representative from Eastern Kentucky University will be here on October 8th during all lunch blocks. Eastern Kentucky offers Smart State tuition which means no out-of-state tuition fees. Please take a moment during your lunch to meet with the representative.
  • Middle Creek's Student Government is hosting the Homecoming Dance this year on Saturday, October 13th. Tickets will be on sale during lunch on Thursday and Friday of this week and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week. They are $10 each and can only be sold to Middle Creek Students. Tickets will not be sold at the door. All proceeds will go to benefit Hurricane Florence recovery efforts.
  • Josten's will be on campus for the ordering make-up day on Friday, October 12th in the front lobby during lunches to take cap, gown and class ring orders. A $60 deposit is required to place your senior order.

  •  The Governor’s School of North Carolina is the oldest statewide summer residential program for some of North Carolina’s most academically gifted and talented high school students. The six week program is open to juniors, with exceptions made for sophomores applying in the performing/visual arts areas.
    To be eligible, applicants must present aptitude or achievement scores at or above 92 percent, and must commit to attend the entire six weeks. Scholarships are available.
    The complete nomination packet can be found at the North Carolina Governors School website, http://www.ncgovschool.org. Completed applications should be submitted to the MCHS Student Services Office. Deadline for submitting complete applications is 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 28. Late submissions will not be accepted.
