Monday
  • SENIORS - if you want to take Cap and Gown photos, you must sign up for an appointment with Coach Wray in room 228 before January 25. See Coach Wray for more details.
  • Instructions for requesting a schedule change for second semester are posted online and available in student services. All requests must be made through student email accounts to the MCHS schedule change email. As a reminder, changes are only made to increase rigor or correct an issue; electives are not able to be changed. The final day to request schedule changes is January 29th.
  • There will be a boys' tennis interest meeting for the Spring at 7:00 am on Wednesday, January 10th in Coach Arthur's room - 8105.
Wednesday
  • It is not too late to join Ladies and Men of Distinction, please come by Ms. Hardy's Room 2106 to pick up application and membership information. It is important that you see her before next week to get information about our first activity coming soon.
Thursday
  • On Saturday, February 3, 2018, Meredith College offers an free women's leadership conference for high school juniors who are interested in developing and sharpening their leadership skills. The deadline to register is Friday, January 26. See Mrs. Smith in Student Services to register or the Middle Creek Career Services website. https://mchscareerctr.weebly.com/
  • The Perry Outreach Program will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Duke University in Durham, NC. The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day, hands-on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock orthopaedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments. The deadline to register is March 26 but slots may fill up before that time.

Monday
  • Attention All Students: In the event of an absence, a note from your parent/guardian is required the day you return to school. Please turn in all notes to the attendance office, located next to student services in the commons. Students who do not turn in a note within 2 days of absence will receive and unexcused absence and subject to disciplinary action. The note must explain the absence, have a parent guardian/signature, contain the date of absence/absences and a working contact number for the parent/guardian.
  • Middle Creek is excited to welcome a new organization. The Ladies and Men of Disticntion is an organization whose purpose is to develop young ladies and gentlemen into leaders of substance. On Tuesday, December 19 please meet in Room 2106, that's Ms. Hardy's room, at 2:30 for an hour to learn how you can make a difference in our Creek Community. Upcoming projects include the African-American History Month Celebration and African-American Read-In at area elementary schools. All ladies and gentlemen interested should plan to attend or come by room 2106 for information.
  • There is a mandatory Science Olympiad meeting after school on Tuesday, December 19th.
  • The Choral Program invites you to their annual Winter Concert on Tuesday December 19th. The performances are at 4pm for free and 7pm for $3. You can purchase a ticket for the 7pm concert during lunches this week and next monday (and at the door if there are any left!). Hope to see you there!! 
  • The next FBLA meeting will be held on Thursday December 21st directly after school in room 2306. The meeting should last about 45 min.
  • Students, as a reminder, the elevator is for faculty and only students with an elevator pass that has been provided. Should you ride the elevator without a pass, and cannot present the pass when asked, a disciplinary action will be incurred.
  • The ambassadors club will be hosting a get together before Winter Break for any students new to Middle Creek that would like to meet other students and learn more about how to get involved. Please join us in the media center during all lunches on Wednesday, December 20. Light refreshments will be served.
  • There will be an interest meeting on Wednesday - December 20th at 7:00 in room 8101 for any boys interested in playing tennis in the Spring.
  • The annual Christma-Hana-Kwanzika drama club is wednesday the twentieth. There will be lots of holiday treats and games!
Tuesday
  • The Environmental club at middle creek is excited to host a trivia game this Wednesday, in Mr. Prelaske room, 3318! This environmentally themed game will last from 2:30 to 3:30. There will be prizes for the winners and food to snack on for anyone looking to join the fun. If any questions please speak to Mr. Prelaske.

  • All SkillsUSA members who are planning to compete must complete the Competition Declaration Form located in the SkillsUSA section on the mchsdigitalmedia.com website BEFORE today's meeting. If you plan to compete in a team competition, ALL group members must complete the form.
  • Middle Creek's first annual Jingle Ball tournament will be Wednesday the 13th in the main gym starting at 6:30 pm! Come to cheer on your friends, or just to watch some dodgeball! Admission is the donation of a new or lightly used toy! See you there!
  • Seniors, please turn in your scholarship letters to Student Services. We need a copy whether you accept or decline the offer.
  • Prom council is now boarding. Join us to help plan for our final destination, on Flight Prom 2018. We will meet in room 3204 on Friday the 15th for approximately 30 mins. All juniors are welcome to join the flight crew. Book your seat by paying all dues online for the International Destination Prom. 
  • The 2018 edition of the MCHS Yearbook is currently on sale. Visit www.yearbookordercenter.com and enter MCHS code 10474 to order! MUST order by Dec 20!
  • Summer Ventures in Science and Math is a four-week residential summer program for high-achieving rising juniors and seniors who have a strong interest in research opportunities in STEM areas. Programs are available at Appalachian State, East Carolina, UNC Charlotte, and UNC Wilmington. Interested students must apply online at www.summerventures.org by January 15, 2018.
  • Middle Creek is excited to welcome a new organization. The Ladies and Men of Disticntion is an organization whose purpose is to develop young ladies and gentlemen into leaders of substance.   • Seniors-Last chance to order your cap and gown for graduation- Jostens will be on campus during all three lunches on Thursday, December 7th to take orders. Please have your $60 deposit with you when you order.
    If you ordered a class ring, they can be picked up on Thursday, December 7th during all three lunches. Make sure any remaining balance is paid in full.

Monday
  • All SkillsUSA members that plan to compete this year must purchase this years MCHS SkillsUSA shirt. This Friday is the last day to buy a shirt. Please bring your money to Mrs. Councill in room 2112 on Friday.
  • There will be a mandatory men's lacrosse player meeting for all student-athletes interested in playing this spring on Wednesday from 2:45-3:15 in the Media Center. The meeting is open to both new and experienced players and athletes, and anyone interested in finding out more pre-season workout and tryout information about playing for the reigning NCHSAA state champions. Equipment is available for any new player in need that would like to try lacrosse.
Friday
  • Are you interested in helping make a cleaner environment and taking action at Middle Creek? Next Wednesday, December the sixth, the Middle Creek Environmental club will be hosting a cleanup project in the student parking lot from 2:30 to 4:30. Those participating will meet in room 3318 before beginning. Make sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Hot chocolate will be handed out to all those who attend. Come lend a hand and make a difference!

  • Middle Creek Students! Get ready for this year's First Annual Jingleball Tournament! Form your own teams of six for a night of dodgeball on Wednesday, December 13th. You can find out more and grab forms in room 3312, and must submit all forms by Monday, December 11th.

  • Gospel Choir is meeting Monday November 20th @2:30 to prepare for tonight's performance. Please be on time, Room 214 at 2:30. See you there.
  • Our OCS students who run Creek Creations Enterprise will be having a Christmas Sale on their inventory. Please join us in the commons during all lunches on December 5th and 7th. Bring your change and do your Christmas shopping early.

Monday
  • Seniors: If you need help with your college applications please come to the media center during all three lunches on Wednesday, November 15, or Thursday, November 16. Counselors will be available during all lunches to help with completing college applications, residency determination service, or sending transcripts.
  • There will be a SkillsUSA Meeting on Tuesday, November 14th in the Auditorium at 2:30. All members please make sure to attend. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Maldonado, Mr. Petty, Mr. Harris or Mrs. Councill.
  •  An admissions representative from UNC Greensboro will be in the Media Center on Thursday, the 16th, from 2:25-3:15. If you are interested in UNCG, please plan to stop by before going to your after school activities.

  • You have all heard about the amazing Incan cities of Machu Picchu and Cuzco in World History class. How would you like to see them in person! That's right, we are going to Peru! If you are interested in traveling to Peru to see amazing historical sites and make a difference with service work then this is the trip for you. There will be an informational meeting held on Wednesday Dec. 6 @ 5:00. See Mr. Flohr in room 8102 for more details.
  • The next Mustangs for Malawi meeting will be held in Mr. Flohr's room on Monday Nov. 20th @ 2:30. We will be discussing ideas for our spring fundraiser. All students who are interested in making a difference are welcome.

Wednesday
  • Seniors - please hand in a copy of your scholarship letters that you have received to Student Services, whether you accept or decline. Athletes that have signed, please hand in a copy of your letters too. Last years graduating class earned over 9 million dollars in scholarship funds. Can you surpass their accomplishment?
Friday
  • The annual Catalyst Conference brings a select group of 100 North Carolina high school students from grades 9-12 to the UNC Chapel Hill campus to explore social justice issues affecting both America and the world. This year's conference is held on February 16-18 and the cost to attend is $50. Through leadership and personal development sessions, participants are empowered to serve as catalysts for positive change in their own communities. Interested students must apply online by Friday, December 1 at unccatalyst.wordpress.com/.
  • A representative from UNC's Air Force ROTC will be on campus December 8 to talk about the program and available scholarships. Interested students should sign-up with Mrs. Smith in Student Services or online at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/409094da5ad2ea13-mchs3.
  • Congratulations to Abby Rogers for being selected to attend this year's Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Seminar and to Eve Boyer as being selected as an alternate candidate. We are proud of these students and all who applied for the HOBY Seminar.
  • Do you have an interest in helping children around the world? Come join the UNICEF Club. Meetings take place every other Wednesday. The next meeting will be November 29th at 2:30 in room 3206.
  • Congratulations to the Middle Creek Special Olympic Team who dominated the fall Basketball Games yesterday at Bond Park...Outstanding performances were turned in by Hector Cortez, Malik Cary, Nicholas B. and Riley and Cole Smith. Well done gentlemen and thank you for representing the Creek!
