Welcome to 8th grade track 2 math with Mrs. Fleek. I absolutely LOVE math. I love talking about it, teaching it, reading it, writing it, and learning about it. I am so excited to help some of you find a similar passion for math. There is no such thing as "not a math person" and I will work with you this year to discover that. I truly believe every student, every person, is capable of being successful with math; it's all about having confidence and persevering through the process.

My background: I grew up in a suburb North of Chicago. I loved the city but HATED the weather! I went to a small school from Kindergarten through 12th grade where my Mom was a math teacher. She was my High School Math teacher for THREE years in a row.

My education: I went to Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Mathematics and Middle School Education. I moved to North Carolina in 2008 to be closer to family and... THE BEACH! I attended Graduate School at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received my M. Ed. in Middle School Math Education in May of 2011.

My family: I am married and have two children. Eleanor is almost 5 and has lots of energy and opinions. Wesley is 3 and has more energy but fewer opinions, thank goodness! We have a 9 lb dog named Sophie who loves to bark and cuddle. As a family we love to play games, have dance parties in the living room and anything that involves the beach.
