The mission of the Heritage Middle School Student Services & Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.  The HMS School counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement.  In partnership with other educators, parents/guardians and the community, counselors facilitate a necessary support system to ensure all students in Heritage Middle School have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.

6th Grade Guidance Counselor, Mr. Graves

Welcome parents and students! My name is Gregg Graves, and I will be your child's 6th grade school counselor.  I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and my graduate degree in counseling from N.C. State University.  I have been a professional educator since 1990 where I began my career as a third grade teacher in Silver Spring, Maryland. For the past eighteen years I have been a school counselor at three different Wake County Schools.  I am truly thrilled to be your child's sixth grade counselor.  I look forward to providing quality counseling services which will include classroom guidance, small group and individual counseling.  I will also be involved in parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, and 504 meetings.  Please feel free to contact me via e-mail, phone call or in person whenever you need assistance.  Best wishes to you and your child during this special transition to middle school.

7th Grade Guidance Counselor, Ms. McCulley

Hello 7th Grade students and families!  My name is Mary McCulley and I am the 7th grade counselor. I look forward to working with you this year! I plan to introduce myself in classes at the beginning of the year and provide classroom guidance on various topics throughout the year. In addition, I will be providing lessons through the Wake County S.O.S. (Signs of Suicide) Program which typically takes place in the fall. I also work with students individually and in small groups. 8th Grade Guidance Counselor, Ms. McCorquodale

Hello 8th grade families!  I am excited to work with you and your student this year. 8th grade is such an important transitional year for students and I look forward to the support I can offer. I earned my undergraduate degree at The University of Texas in Austin.  Hook 'Em Horns! After teaching for many years, I attended graduate school at The University of Texas- San Antonio to earn my graduate degree in Counseling. I moved to North Carolina in 1999 and taught at Washington GT Magnet and Green Year Round.  When Heritage first opened its doors in 2004-2005, I taught on the 6th grade track 4 team.  It's been an honor and privilege to work at HMS as a guidance counselor since 2007. I love coming to work each day to help all of our students, parents, and staff.  Through teacher, parent, and counselor support, I am confident your student will have a successful 8th grade experience.  I look forward to meeting your student in the classroom, small group and individual settings.  Please let me know if I can assist you with anything regarding your student's social, emotional or educational experiences.
