Duke TIP: Invitations go home via 7th grade students in the fall. The SAT and ACT are two different types of tests. The SAT is geared toward thinking skills and the ACT is geared toward content knowledge. Learn more about them on the SAT website and ACT website. Here is an article that compares both of them. Most students come back and report that they were glad to have the experience of taking either test so they know certain objectives to focus on as they continue through school. It is totally up to you which test, if any, you would like your child to take as a 7th grader.

Spring Semester Acceleration Testing:
Single Subject Acceleration: Students through 7th grade can test out of a language arts or math course. Math I CANNOT be skipped. Students must follow the Credit By Demonstrated Mastery to advance past Math I. View for more information:

AIG Parent Meetings 2017-2018
Choose 1 of 2 meetings offered first quarter to learn about the AIG program at HMS. Both meetings take place in the Media Center.
