BYOD in the Wake County Public School System

At the start of the 2014-15 school year, WCPSS launched a BYOD pilot composed of 13 schools that volunteered to help determine how to best implement such an initiative. Building on what we learned, additional schools have worked with us to implement BYOD (generally in groups of 20) such that, at present, 123 schools support some form of student-owned device use. As related to the Vision 2020 Strategic Plan, BYOD is intended to help provide increased access to digitally enhanced learning environments and to provide learners with additional opportunities to collaborate, communicate, create, and think critically.

If your school would like to start a BYOD program, please read through the information the District Support tab to gain a better understanding of what is involved in the process and then fill out THIS form. The application period for the fall 2017 cohort (will begin in September) are now being accepted.
